About The Position

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Senior Sales Manager - Turbomachinery will provide leadership to a team of sales engineers / representatives within their sales region. They will successfully lead the sales team to achieve assigned booking targets for parts, field service, repair and rerate/mods bookings within the assigned sales region. Work closely with operations team members to meet sales and bookings objectives. Develop relationships with key customer personnel and promote Elliott Group overall qualifications and abilities. This role entails up to 50% travel. As a solution provider in the energy industry, Ebara Elliott Energy designs, manufactures, and services technically advanced centrifugal and axial compressors, steam turbines, power recovery expanders, custom pumps, and cryogenic products used in the petrochemical, refining, oil & gas, and liquefied gas industries, as well as in power applications. We employ 2,300 people in 30 locations around the world. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ebara Corporation, a major industrial conglomerate headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Ebara employs 19,000 people and has sales of US $5 billion.

Requirements

  • Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience. MBA would be beneficial.
  • Several years of technical sales experience with turbomachinery in the refining, petrochemical, power or related markets/industry.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with the sales and sales management process.
  • Proven track record of successful sales team leadership.
  • Ability to effectively team with the Regional Field Service and Service Center Zone managers in the region.
  • Overall knowledge of Elliott Organization and capabilities.
  • Knowledge of Elliott Processes, Policies, and Procedures.
  • Management skills including, recruitment and hiring of new employees, training of new employees, evaluation and motivation of employees.
  • Strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
  • Strong selling and negotiation skills that are shared with the selling team.
  • Leadership skills to monitor and motivate sales team activities.
  • Planning skills to help sales team prioritize and optimize their efforts in order to maximize Elliott Company sales.
  • Ability to develop relationships with key customers.
  • Sales Management - coordination of sales team efforts, interface with product line and operations, business planning, communication.
  • Sales manager has responsibility for controlling assets of company in the form of sales personnel. Effectively utilizing this asset to maximize business potential in an assigned area.
  • Supervising direct reports including skill evaluations, product training programs for each individual and confirming that activities are in line with Elliott Group objectives.
  • Lead sales team for service products in region with key corporate or targeted accounts.
  • Persuading, selling, convincing external and internal selling skills; promoting service products within an assigned sales region.
  • Provide input into developing new products that based on market intelligence that could be successfully sold in the sales region, Analyzing market trends, activity and gathering marketing intelligence on products, industries, competition and customer practices that can be used to create and reinforce our market strategies.
  • Some of our activities are covered by Elliott policies, precedents, and procedures. These include expense reporting and approvals, commercial limits of authority, purchase order acceptance, and contract terms.

Responsibilities

  • Management of the regional sales organization including performance appraisals and salary planning.
  • Recruitment, selection, hiring, and training of new sales team members.
  • Handling bookings, sales forecasting and sales team quota assignment.
  • Support individual sales team members with their sales activities.
  • Provide management support and leadership for the settling of customer disputes.
  • Periodic review of sale territories and accounts to insure best sales coverage possible.
  • Work closely with the operations organizations to maximize sales.
  • Lead the local sales team in Process Improvement initiatives and actively participate in all PI teams.
