About The Position

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale. Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. The Role Square is looking for high-energy, motivated professionals with sound business insight and natural sales instincts. You will be joining our Restaurant or Generalist team to help build our Sales Development organization. You will lay the foundation of this sales effort through contacting inbound leads from prospective sellers and promoting the value of Square for their business. As a Sales Development Representative, you will work with our Sales team to find new merchants that fit the Square ecosystem. As the first line of contact, you understand the diverse needs of our merchants. You will become an expert in the products and services that enables merchants to grow with the Square ecosystem. You will use your convincing personality and passion for winning to improve the standard of success, documenting and tracking qualified opportunities to pass onto the Account Executive team. You will use a data-driven approach to outbound sales that incorporates prospecting, email communication, and calling at scale. This position is the starting point to many growth opportunities within the Square team. We have designed our program to facilitate career growth in the BDR direction of choice. Prior to being promoted into a new role, you have the ability to increase your on target earnings by leveling up within the organization.

Requirements

  • A desire to grow your career in sales
  • A BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 1+ years of inbound or outbound sales experience
  • Personal leadership, authenticity, team player, energy richness, curiosity
  • Enthusiasm for developing sales skills through cold calling
  • Comfort with operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Responsibilities

  • Quickly respond to marketing and product driven leads
  • Qualify leads and set appointments for account executives with merchants.
  • Learn to sell in a dynamic, innovative, fast-paced environment
  • Manage a pipeline of leads successfully by focusing on daily activities and sales tools to effectively convert leads to sales.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Square's ecosystem and keep abreast of upcoming product releases.
  • Facilitate small business merchant onboarding
  • Present a great first impression of Square by giving excellent service, quick and timely follow up to inbound inquiries.
