About The Position

The Senior Safety Manager is responsible for owning safety leadership, compliance, and field execution standards across CARIAN’s Field Services operations. This role is both operational and client-facing and will travel to utility sites to support active projects, safety programs, and compliance needs. This is not an administrative safety role. This is a senior field leader who sets the standard, drives accountability, and represents CARIAN in front of utility safety leadership to help win and retain work. CUSP certification is required.

Requirements

  • CUSP (Certified Utility Safety Professional) certification required.
  • 10+ years of safety leadership experience in utility, power, or heavy field services environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and utility safety practices.
  • Demonstrated experience owning safety programs and contractor compliance platforms (ISNetworld experience strongly preferred).
  • Proven ability to operate confidently in front of utility safety leadership and represent a firm at a professional level.
  • Strong organizational discipline and attention to compliance detail.
  • OSHA 30 (Construction) required.
  • First Aid / CPR / AED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent field experience accepted.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license, maintain a clean driving record, and be able to travel regularly to client sites in support of active projects and safety programs.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead CARIAN’s Field Services safety program across all projects and client environments.
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for safety performance, compliance, and field execution standards.
  • Maintain ISNetworld compliance, including personnel onboarding and offboarding, training records, certifications, hours, and all client-required documentation.
  • Conduct regular field audits, site inspections, and safety observations across our client territories.
  • Lead Tailboard meeting talks, safety stand-downs, and training programs for field staff and subcontractors.
  • Partner with Field Services leadership to strengthen safety culture, operational discipline, and field consistency.
  • Interface directly with utility clients on safety posture, audits, performance metrics, corrective actions, and readiness requirements.
  • Support client safety programs and field safety oversight engagements, including acting as a dedicated safety lead on client projects when required.
  • Participate in client meetings and support business development efforts by presenting CARIAN’s safety program, credentials, and field capabilities.
  • Lead incident and near-miss investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain and continuously improve safety policies, procedures, and field documentation to align with evolving regulatory and client requirements.
