About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for a motivated Senior Roadway Engineer / Project Manager for our Florida Transportation Team! This position will sit out of our Tampa, FL office. This Opportunity The WSP Tampa office serves clients from around the state of Florida on a wide variety of projects ranging from Major Interstate Reconstruction, Tolling Facilities, Arterial Capacity Improvements, Intersection and Safety Improvement, Innovative Intersections, and Resurfacing Contracts. The selected candidate may work with FDOT, various expressway authorities, and local municipal agencies on a variety of projects on a regular basis. Existing relationships and experience with our clients are beneficial. This position is an excellent opportunity for personal growth and advancement in our industry as well as building your relationship within the WSP organization on a regional and national level. The selected candidate will have demonstrated experience in leading the design of highways, roadway geometric design, roadway plan production, multidiscipline coordination, and TCP considerations on traditional and/or alternative delivery projects. Additionally, this role provides situational guidance to PMs and managers that account for and address current and future challenges, risks, innovations, and future-ready opportunities. Provides leadership with ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds industry standards for design, safety, and functionality. Responsibilities may also include project management, contributing on pursuits, maintaining client relationships, design and QA/QC. This role will be a key contributor in managing daily activities of our Civil/Highway group

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • Professional Engineering License.
  • 10+ years of experience in large transportation and infrastructure projects
  • Significant experience working with FDOT projects, Tolling agencies or Local Municipal Clients.
  • Familiarity with design applications such as Microstation/Openroads
  • Demonstrated creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment, and successfully managing multiple projects and task assignments, relying upon experience in design quality control programs.
  • Experience preparing, managing and reviewing project deliverables including planning, design and construction documents, project reports, environmental studies, cost estimates, scopes of work, proposals, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience with State and local governments, contractors, transportation agencies, etc.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong focus on operations and project delivery.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in engineering.
  • Experience in Alternative Delivery projects.
  • Experience with large transportation design build projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide superior client service through quality management, technical excellence, responsiveness, and production management of specifications, reports and analyses that meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements and are commensurate with professional standards, client requirements and corporate objectives.
  • Provide coordination with other design disciplines and remote office locations, including Planning, Environmental, Roadway, Structures, Hydraulics/Drainage and Traffic.
  • Collaborate with leadership to determine long-range plans and objectives, including recommendations on project staffing, evaluating and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating staffing levels needed for projects.
  • Manage specific discipline submittals, schedule, budget, and profitability of assigned tasks, overseeing preparation of plans, specifications, proposals and RFC packages.
  • Complete ad hoc projects as needs arise.
  • Provide input on alternative delivery proposal preparation.
  • Lead projects with all aspects of Transportation Design from conceptual and preliminary engineering to final design.
  • Provide Training to Staff-level Engineers.
  • Coordinating with internal and external clients.
  • Support and develop effective long-term client/contractor relationships.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
