About The Position

SUMMARY The Senior Compliance Officer is responsible for advising on and overseeing compliance risk across client-impacting products, services, and processes. This role interprets federal and state regulatory requirements, provides guidance to line management, and drives effective issue management and remediation. The Senior Compliance Officer partners closely with associates in the first line, Legal, Operational Risk, Internal Audit, and external regulators to strengthen the control environment, protect our clients, and support safe and sound growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor (4-year college) degree
  • 2-5 years of Banking experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite; experience with audit or risk management software is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in risk management, internal audit, compliance, or control testing preferred.
  • Professional certification preferred (e.g., CRCM or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with relevant banking regulations (e.g., FRB, CFPB, FDIC) and control frameworks preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply applicable laws, rules, and guidance (e.g., consumer protection, privacy, fair banking/UDAAP, deposits/loans, servicing; BSA/AML as applicable).
  • Advise on new and changed products, marketing, disclosures, and client communications; review/approve materials as required by policy.
  • Provide clear, practical guidance to line management on control design and effectiveness.
  • Lead or contribute to the annual compliance risk assessment for assigned lines of business, documenting inherent risk, control effectiveness, and residual risk.
  • Maintain a current inventory of compliance obligations and associated controls; recommend enhancements where gaps exist.
  • Define and track key risk indicators and metrics to monitor compliance risk and trends.
  • Draft, maintain, and socialize compliance policies, standards, and procedure requirements; ensure alignment with regulatory expectations.
  • Develop and deliver targeted compliance training for associates in the first line and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor regulatory developments, enforcement actions, and industry guidance; perform impact assessments and oversee implementation plans.
  • Coordinate and prepare responses and materials for regulatory examinations and inquiries.
  • Assess compliance risk in third-party relationships in partnership with vendor management.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
