About The Position

AnySignal is a startup whose mission is to usher in the next generation of RF products and services. For the most demanding space and defense missions, AnySignal provides a flexible platform with world-class performance that is easy to deploy, monitor, purchase, and upgrade. Our team has a diverse range of backgrounds that cover cloud computing to artificial intelligence, communications and sensing, embedded systems, and much more. As an RF Hardware Engineer on the hardware team, you will be responsible for owning the design, manufacture, test, and deployment of highly integrated RF devices used by a large number of space customers. You will work with a small team of software, hardware, and FPGA engineers to shepherd the product from initial design to vehicle integration, taking a full-stack approach to building robust space communications systems.

Requirements

  • Robust experience designing circuitry in microwave bands across the entirety of the RF data conversion and frontend chains
  • Demonstrable experience with the end-to-end PCB design process, including schematic capture, layout, fabrication and assembly
  • Experience with electronic design and analysis tools such as Keysight ADS, Ansys HFSS, and Altium Designer
  • Excellent understanding of RF metrics such as S-parameters, P1dB, noise figure, channel power, and EVM
  • Strong experience with design and analysis of RF cascades, link budgets, and noise analysis
  • Experience with test instruments (oscilloscopes, power supplies, VNAs, spectrum analyzers)
  • Experience with low noise amplifiers, power amplifiers, mixers, ADCs/DACs, phased locked loops, oscillators, filters

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building complex PCBs in Altium Designer
  • Experience selecting components for radiation-susceptible environments
  • Experience working with AD9361, Xilinx RFSoC, and similar digital-analog conversion interfaces
  • Solid experience soldering and reworking boards (0402 SMP components, QFN packages)
  • Experience performing communications link modeling and solid understanding of DSP fundamentals
  • Knowledge of antenna design, simulation, and measurement in near-field/far-field regimes
  • Experience working with high-PAPR signals and knowledge of DPD concepts

Responsibilities

  • Perform trades and analysis on board and system architecture and component selection
  • Bringup and test of new designs
  • Coordinate with digital electronics engineers to bridge analog and digital domains
  • Design for performance under space-grade acceptance, qualification, and compliance requirements, and build test plans for acceptance and qualification campaigns
  • Work with mechanical engineers to ensure proper thermal dissipation of the device
  • Work with supply chain counterparts to enable rapid manufacture and iteration of devices
  • Troubleshoot new RF PCBAs
  • Test and validate RF performance metrics in new designs
