About The Position

The Senior Retirement Services Partner is a subject matter expert in data and process analysis. This role oversees and carries out the analytics and administration of Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air’s qualified 401(k) and pension plans. As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgement to make decisions supporting routine to highly complex retirement plan activities and makes recommendations to address complex benefit issue(s) with employees/unions/vendors and serves as a liaison between all parties.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in analytics focused on retirement benefits, payroll, accounting, human resources, finance or other related field.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Administration, Business Administration, Finance or related area, or an additional two years of relevant experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel and Word skills.
  • A positive and professional demeanor, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 2 years experience with defined benefit and/or defined contribution plan administration.
  • Experience with high volume, hands-on, detailed reconciliation work.
  • A working knowledge of Canadian regulations relating to retirement benefit plans.

Responsibilities

  • With minimal direction from leadership, oversee, administer, and provide analysis for qualified retirement plans, such as 401(k) plans, pension plans and Canadian retirement plan. This includes all short and long-term tasks related to plan administration.
  • Analyze data flowing between systems. Troubleshoot issues and recommend solutions to correct systems issues.
  • Perform “what if” analysis and make appropriate recommendations to guide the direction of labor negotiations.
  • Solve complex issues tied to transfers, loan amortization, QDROs, USERRA leaves, etc.
  • Understand applicable laws and plan provisions and ensure plans are in compliance at all times.
  • Partner with multiple vendors for functions such as loans, hardship withdrawals, after-tax withdrawals, domestic relations orders, termination distributions, participant census, enrollment status, and problem resolution.
  • Participate in and influence the strategic planning and execution of department goals based on analysis performed, make recommendations to establish process and policy changes that improve benefit offerings or simplify plan administration.
  • Mentor and coach team members for success and growth in their daily work, skill development, and discipline expertise.
  • Maintain actuarial models to create retirement packets and coordinate payments to employees through payroll and vendors.
  • Each member of the retirement team will be responsible for tracking and successfully delivering on established people service metrics.
