About The Position

Home to a year-round calendar of major sport, concerts and events, Melbourne Park demands operational excellence, adaptability and strong leadership at every level. The Senior Retail Manager plays a critical role in leading the retail food and beverage operation across the precinct on a full-time, year-round basis , ensuring consistency, commercial performance and exceptional guest experience. While the Australian Open represents a significant peak trading period, this role is primarily focused on sustained operational leadership across all trading modes.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in retail food & beverage or hospitality management
  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to coach, develop and manage large teams
  • Sound financial acumen, including budgeting, labour management and stock control
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management capability
  • A strong understanding of food safety, WHS and compliance requirements
  • Confidence working across both steady-state operations and high-intensity event periods
  • Strong computer literacy and experience with POS and operational systems
  • Flexibility to support a varied trading calendar, including major events
  • Valid Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate
  • Police check
  • Demonstrated experience in retail concessions or quick-service operations

  • Qualification in Hospitality or related field (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day retail food & beverage operation across Melbourne Park
  • Act as 2IC to the Retail Operations Manager, with delegated authority during periods of absence
  • Drive operational consistency, compliance and brand standards across all retail outlets
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives, including POS systems and retail technology
  • Deliver strong commercial outcomes, including sales targets, labour budgets and RPLH
  • Oversee visual merchandising, food presentation and outlet readiness
  • Ensure food safety, workplace health & safety and hygiene standards are met at all times
  • Manage stock control, ordering processes and monthly stocktakes
  • Minimise waste and optimise product availability and cost control
  • Lead outlet branding, ticketing integration and consumer-facing initiatives
  • Support planning and execution for major events and peak periods
