About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented scientist to join our Chemical Biology & Proteomics (CBP) team at AstraZeneca in Waltham, MA. As a Senior Research Scientist, you will be an integral member of a team generating pre-clinical pharmacology data to understand efficacy and selectivity of therapeutic agents. Key Responsibilities Develop and employ chemical tools and proteomics technologies to provide impactful mechanistic insights for drug discovery projects across therapeutic areas Develop mass spectrometry-based methods to conduct covalent screens Design and execute experimental plans to understand target engagement and selectivity profiles of therapeutic agents, understand drug-induced proteome dynamics and investigate post-translational modifications (PTM) Represent CBP team, and communicate with project discipline leads, and contribute to generation of mechanistic hypothesis through interpretation of sophisticated proteomics data Maintain and troubleshoot LC-MS system Essential Requirements PhD with 2+ years of post-doctoral/industrial experience Knowledge and hands-on experience with sample preparation and method development on quantitative mass spectrometry (relative and/or absolute protein quantification) Experience with mass spectrometry-based covalent screening, and proven expertise with IP-MS or chemical probe-based enrichment MS workflows, and experience developing automated processes to analyze large number of samples for MS analysis Skilled in investigating compound effects under biochemical and cellular settings with quantitative mass spectrometry, e.g. PTMs, protein complexes perturbations, etc Experience in determining protein abundance and turnover by using quantitative proteomics technologies, such as TMT, SILAC, and/or label-free approaches and data independent acquisition (DIA) Expertise in data analysis and an ability to communicate data interpretation clearly Significant external reputation gained through professional recognition, external presentations and publications in high-impact journals Ability to contribute with a positive, result oriented and problem-solving attitude Desirable Requirements Experience in pre-clinical drug discovery Experience using Thermo Q-Exactive, Orbitrap Exploris, Eclipse, Astral Zoom or TimsTOF Experience with Xcalibur, Proteome Discoverer, MaxQuant, Skyline, Spectronaut and DB search engine tools Experience with liquid handling systems and robotic automation Familiarity with targeted proteomics is a plus Why AstraZeneca? Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Requirements

  • PhD with 2+ years of post-doctoral/industrial experience
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with sample preparation and method development on quantitative mass spectrometry (relative and/or absolute protein quantification)
