The Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC) at Massachusetts General Hospital supports leading-edge clinical and basic research on Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD), with a focus on developing new tools to understand the clinical and biological changes that occur in these conditions. The Center is funded by the National Institute on Aging to follow a longitudinal cohort with standard and novel clinical, imaging, and biomarker evaluations; to store and share the resulting data; to conduct outreach training; and to support basic science and other clinical research programs on ADRD. The ADRC Senior Research Lab Operations Manager will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight to advance the Center’s mission of accelerating research to prevent, treat, and ultimately cure Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. This role integrates advanced knowledge with research operations to effectively bridge clinical and research programs. Job Summary Summary Performs a variety of research and research administration activities in direct support of the Department's research faculty and programs. Responsible for managing the overall functioning of the research operation. Serves as a front-line resource for researchers in the Department, acting as liaison to internal administrative units and external sponsors on matters relating to research programs. Works closely with Principal Investigators and Research Faculty within the Division to ensure efficient communication and follow-through, and coordination of short- and long-range planning. This position advises all staff and faculty on policy changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required or Master's Degree Related Field of Study preferred
  • Progressive responsibility in a research or healthcare environment, 5-7 years required.
  • Must have outstanding organization, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Good judgment and proficient decision-making skills.
  • Ability to effectively delegate responsibilities to staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all members of the organization in ways that enhance understanding, respect, cooperation, and problem-solving.
  • Excellent negotiation skills in complex and often sensitive multi-institutional situations.
  • Knowledge of research fiscal management, with a high degree of analytic ability.
  • Knowledgeable in the ethical conduct of research and standards that govern the conduct of industry-supported clinical trials and other research.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Supervisory experience, 2-3 years preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides input on a strategy based on knowledge of industry and trends.
  • Develops budgets for research proposals.
  • Develop and implement project plans for research build management projects.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff, including training, supervision, and performance management.
  • Supervises the operations of the lab.
  • Trains newly hired technical staff to work on this project.
  • Responsible for oversight of all lab supplies and equipment, purchasing, and maintenance.
  • Prepares reports and presents progress at research staff meetings.
