About The Position

Cytokinetics is a specialty cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company focused on pioneering scientific innovations in muscle biology and advancing a pipeline of potential new medicines for patients with cardiac muscle dysfunction. The company is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate to support preclinical cardiac research programs, specifically with expertise in cardiomyocyte maintenance and differentiation. In this role, the associate will conduct and manage experiments to evaluate the efficacy of novel small molecule compounds for treating cardiac and skeletal muscle diseases. This position requires a proactive individual capable of collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to advance compounds through preclinical research and development.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Biology, Physiology, Pharmacology, or a related field with 3-5 years of relevant research experience
  • Ability to work weekends, as needed, for iPSC maintenance and experimental timepoints
  • Basic data management skills and the ability to present data clearly and effectively is required
  • iPSC culture experience required
  • Team-oriented, detail-oriented, proactive
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for individuals with cardiomyocyte differentiation experience
  • Prior experience in a range of biochemical and molecular biology techniques (e.g. flow cytometry, western blots, qPCR, immunohistochemistry, etc) is preferred
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical/biotechnology environment is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain iPSC banks with diverse genetic backgrounds, including routine quality control and line characterization
  • Maintain various iPSC lines in culture and perform cardiomyocyte differentiation and characterization
  • Conduct both cellular and biochemical assays to support preclinical drug discovery programs in cardiac muscle biology
  • Measure biomarkers of disease progression and compound efficacy
  • Document experimental methods and results, manage data, and present research findings
  • Collaborate closely with other team members to build understanding of cardiovascular disease pathogenesis and the mechanism of action of drug candidates
