About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Microsoft Dynamics 365 release engineer to join our team supporting a high-profile software development project in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs. In this role you will managing releasing applications to pre-production and production environments, priority incident resolution, troubleshooting, and end-user support. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about (theme of the role: e.g., government modernization, user-centered design, secure infrastructure, people operations, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 8-10 years of release engineering or DevOps experience, including at least 5 years specifically supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Willingness to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • Strong hands-on experience with Github CI/CD pipelines for D365 and Power Platform ALM.
  • Deep understanding of Dynamics 365 Customer Service solution architecture, solution layering (managed vs unmanaged), component dependencies, and environment strategies.
  • Experience deploying and troubleshooting D365 solutions, including Dataverse tables, plugins, workflows, Power Automate flows, PCF controls, and integration components.
  • Solid understanding of Power Platform ALM concepts: solution segmentation, connection references, environment variables, publisher strategies, and versioning.
  • Ability to analyze solution import logs, plugin trace logs, and Dataverse telemetry to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Experience working with structured change control processes and validating CR documentation in regulated or federal environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, especially when diagnosing complex, multi-component release issues across Dynamics and Azure integrations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional technical and functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and optimize CI/CD practices specifically for D365 Customer Service, Power Platform solutions, and supporting Azure components, ensuring reliable and standardized release execution.
  • Manage solution build, packaging, and deployment across development, test, UAT, and production environments using Azure DevOps and ALM best practices for Dynamics.
  • Validate environment configurations, solution layering (managed/unmanaged), patching strategies, and dependency impacts across D365 apps, Dataverse, plugins, PCF controls, and integrations.
  • Confirm version alignment, connection references, environment variables, and API dependencies to ensure stable, consistent deployments across all D365 environments.
  • Diagnose complex deployment failures within Dynamics (solution import errors, plugin exceptions, Dataverse schema conflicts, etc.) and lead long-term remediation and prevention strategies.
  • Ensure all Change Requests (CRs) include accurate solution documentation, release notes, dependency maps, and necessary approvals in compliance with COE and VA governance processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve deployment issues using D365/Power Platform tools such as Solution Checker, Plugin Trace Logs, Dataverse telemetry, and Azure Application Insights.
  • Implement and lead automation initiatives for solution export, validation, versioning, and deployment through Azure DevOps Pipelines or GitHub Actions.
  • Collaborate closely with functional consultants, developers, integration teams, and architects to coordinate cross-system releases involving Dynamics, Azure APIs, Power Automate flows, Power Pages, and other Microsoft cloud components.
  • Support continuous improvement of D365 release governance, environment strategy, and ALM processes across the sustainment lifecycle.
