Requirements

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 64B9.
  • One (1) year of supervisory and/or nurse administrator experience.
  • Current CPR from the American Heart Association.
  • Ability and willingness to work a minimum of every other weekend, holidays and during natural disasters as needed.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and Word.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in Electronic Health Records.
  • Successful completion of due diligence process, to include a Level II Background and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality professional care to the veteran residents to ensure their health, safety, and security in accordance with established agency Standard Operating Procedures and Nurse Practice Act.
  • Provide initial and ongoing assessment of the resident population.
  • Perform assigned duties to include but not limited to administration of medications and treatments per MD order, monitoring and providing interventions to meet the needs of the resident, completing accurate clinical documentation reflective of resident’s status and providing supervision and guidance to the RN, LPN, CNA, and other Allied Health Care Professionals.
  • Works under the direct supervision of the Executive Nursing Director (DON).
  • Supervise and direct nursing personnel on an assigned shift.
  • Ensure that the nursing personnel are following their job descriptions and that the residents are receiving total nursing care.
  • Review shift assignments and ensure that the assignments reflect the ability of the staff to meet the specific nursing care needs of the residents.
  • Ensure that work assignments are written, dated, and posted.
  • Receive notices of absence when nursing staff calls off, and coordinates assignments to maintain regulatory compliance and meet the needs of the residents.
  • Notify Administrator and/or DON of any emergency situations in the building.
  • Make daily rounds to observe residents and to determine if nursing needs are being met.
  • Observe all nursing staff giving care at least once during an eight-hour shift.
  • Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the facility and nursing department.
  • Follow all local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Comply and perform within the scope of practice as defined by the Florida Nursing Practice Act.
  • Assist in review of policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that reference material at the nurses’ stations is current.
  • Make recommendations to DON for improved and/or additional items.
  • Review and follow-up incidents and/or complaints occurring on assigned tour of duty.
  • Complete reports and forward to DON/RN.
  • Ensure that all verbal orders, including telephone orders from attending physicians, are received by a registered nurse.
  • If no RN is available, receive all telephone orders from physicians.
  • Will give Basic Life Support (CPR) when necessary.
  • Assist Nursing Program Specialist in ensuring that all assessments are completed prior to the Interdisciplinary Resident Care Plan Committee meeting.
  • Check all documentation related to assessment for those residents scheduled for Care Plans.
  • Ensure that any incomplete documentation is finished within twenty-four (24) hours of scheduled Care Plan Conference.
  • Participate in economic utilization of supplies and ensure that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
  • Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients such as cardiac arrest.
  • Participate in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment.
  • Actively participate in continuing educational programs for self-development and in overall quality improvement programs.
  • Perform other related duties, including special projects, as assigned.
