About The Position

The Senior Quantitative Research Analyst will serve as a core contributor to MX’s thought leadership and market intelligence efforts, responsible for developing rigorous quantitative analyses that connect consumer financial behavior to broader financial services outcomes. This role is accountable for designing and validating analytical models that quantify the return on investment (ROI) financial institutions can expect from adopting MX solutions, and for translating complex data into clear, compelling narratives for executive and industry audiences. As a senior individual contributor, this role owns full research cycles end to end — from hypothesis development and data modeling through publication and stakeholder engagement — and plays a critical role in shaping MX’s external market perspective through high-impact reports and industry publications.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in quantitative analysis, data science, or economic research, specifically within the Financial Services, Fintech, or Banking sectors.
  • Deep domain expertise in consumer finance, including a strong understanding of retail banking products, credit/lending lifecycles, and transaction-level data (e.g., merchant cleansing, categorization).
  • Demonstrated experience developing and validating statistical or quantitative models (e.g., LTV, Churn, or Propensity models) using large, complex financial datasets.
  • Strong ability to translate technical analysis into clear written narratives that resonate with Executive Leadership at Financial Institutions (FIs) and industry analysts.
  • Proven experience authoring analytical reports or white papers that address macroeconomic trends, interest rate environments, or consumer spending behavior.
  • Advanced analytical thinking with a high degree of data integrity, particularly concerning sensitive financial data and compliance standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, or a related field required; Masters or PhD with a focus on Financial Economics or Econometrics highly preferred.
  • Candidates must provide a portfolio or samples of prior analytical writing or thought leadership focused on the financial services industry.
  • Please note that this position does not accept sponsorship candidates at this time. Only US-based candidates who are authorized to work in the US without sponsorship, now or in the future, will be considered for this role.
