About The Position

As a Senior Quality Manager at the Burt's Bees plant, you will provide strategic quality leadership aligned with plant and enterprise business objectives. The successful individual will build and develop high-performing quality teams, ensuring regulatory and corporate compliance, and leading Quality Control, Laboratory, and integrated Quality Management Systems to embed quality ownership into plant operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years related experience in pharmaceutical, cosmetics, foods or supplements industry (Quality Manager experience).
  • Broad working knowledge of quality systems, regulatory requirements, and global regulations (i.e. FDA/GMP, 21CFR Parts 210/211, 21CFR Parts 700/701, ICH guidance, etc).
  • Draft Guidance for Industry: Cosmetic Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO 22716...
  • Strong leadership & influence skills – Ability to set direction and drive results.
  • Proven people management, coaching, and development skills.
  • Critical reasoning skills and demonstrated ability to assess impact of planned and unplanned changes on product quality.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills – a proven team player who contributes to a results-focused and motivating team environment.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced multitasking environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong Technical Project Leadership and Project Management Skills.
  • Flexibility to travel (< 25%)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing 3rd party and FDA inspections is preferred.
  • Some Quality or Microbiology Laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing QA/QC organization by fostering a strong culture of Quality across the plant, setting clear expectations, coaching talent, and ensuring effective training, qualification, and performance management.
  • Own and maintain the site Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with regulatory, corporate, and customer requirements.
  • Provide oversight of QA and QC operations, including laboratory activities, batch disposition, material controls, and documentation control (DCU).
  • Govern change control, data integrity, and Good Documentation Practices across all quality records and systems.
  • Lead validation and qualification programs (process, cleaning, equipment, utilities, and systems) to maintain a state of control.
  • Partner with the Plant Manager to integrate quality into operational strategy, capital planning, optimizing QC, QA and Environmental programs and site roadmaps.
  • Ensure quality requirements are embedded in capital projects, new technologies, and facility upgrades.
  • Lead audit preparation, execution, response, and closure, ensuring effective CAPA management.
  • Communicate audit outcomes, risks, and trends to site and senior leadership.
  • Maintain a risk‑based internal audit program to monitor QMS health and compliance.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality system effectiveness, reduce risk, and improve performance.
  • Drive structured problem‑solving across deviations, complaints, OOS/OOT, and Cost of Poor Quality.
  • Develop and monitor quality metrics to support decision‑making and accountability.
