General Summary The Senior Patrol Officer (Corporal) will perform routine surveillance of hospital premises, grounds and buildings, while also functioning as a first line supervisor within the department.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of accredited law enforcement academy required.
  • Work Experience Minimum of 1 year road experience as a Patrol Officer or 4 years active experience in Law Enforcement Detention.
  • Certification/License BLS through the American Heart Association required.
  • Must be a commissioned law enforcement officer in good standing with the Missouri state POST Commission, or have held a valid law enforcement commission during the three years immediately prior to appointment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, perform math skills and calculations related to position, read and interpret policies and procedures related to safety and security of facility, codes and compliance regulations.
  • This job will require standing, walking, sitting, lifting.
  • Must possess good communication skills, basic computer skills and the ability to intervene and manage multiple crisis situations and perform effectively and professionally while under stress.
  • This position can be physically, mentally and emotionally challenging and demanding.
  • Must possess exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must have knowledge of hospital codes and emergency procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Creates schedules for the Department of Public Safety and contributes to the performance evaluation process.
  • Directs subordinate officers in providing leadership and training in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Keeps accurate records and documentation of routine activities, rounds, and incidents in compliance with standards established by the Director of Public Safety.
  • Serves as instructor and trainer of Public Safety Officers to ensure proper protection and safety of all customers.
  • Provides proper supervision and guidance to department members holding the job classification of Public Safety Officer.
  • During times of crisis or emergency, the Corporal will assist the Director, his or her designee, and/or the administration in dealing with the crisis in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Assists the Director with keeping accurate call statistics and minor office duties.
