The UCI Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND) is the only state and federally funded Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC). UCI MIND is funded through a grant from the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and has a rich tradition of basic and clinical research in the fields of brain aging and cognitive disorders. Our mission is to discover means to improve the lives of people with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. We also commit substantial effort to community outreach and education, with the goals of keeping the community abreast of our progress, sharing learnings that can help community members reduce their risk for dementia, and increasing awareness of the need for research volunteers to accelerate progress toward improved medical care. To learn more about UCI MIND, visit https://mind.uci.edu/ UCI Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND) is seeking to hire a full-time Senior Psychometrist to support our interdisciplinary clinical research program on Alzheimer's disease, related dementias, and healthy aging. Under the general supervision of licensed Clinical Psychologists specializing in Neuropsychology, the incumbent will independently administer complex batteries of neuropsychological tests to assess measure of memory, mental status, language, visual-spatial skills, executive function, process speed, and depression. As a member of the clinical research team, the incumbent's primary responsibilities include (1) administration of complex batteries of neuropsychological tests to patients and participants in varying clinical research studies, (2) scoring of psychometric tests, (3) interview and collect data from patients/participants and caregivers, and (4) assist training other psychometrists and neuropsychology trainees. Incumbent to this position must be sensitive to the physical and psychological needs of the elderly.

Requirements

  • Psychometric experience in a clinical research setting with elderly adults preferred.
  • Prior experience working with both healthy and cognitively impaired elderly adults (i.e., persons 65 and older)
  • Knowledge of current legal and ethical standards in psychology
  • Extensive training and experience administering neuropsychological & psychological and research assessment measures
  • Experience and a strong understanding of neuropsychology
  • Strong ability to train and supervise externs, interns, and staff
  • Proven collaborative teamwork skills
  • Demonstration of good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience in research and data collection
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including report editing
  • Commitment to patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA, JCAHO, CMS, and related regulations
  • Registered psychological testing technician
  • Training in administering and scoring individual and group psychological tests, and two years of experience in psychometric testing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
  • Must maintain active status as a registered psychological testing technician and meet requirements as stated in the California SB1428 (effective January 1, 2024)
