About The Position

We are recruiting for a Senior Psychologist on our Community Transition Unit at Central Regional Hospital. The Community Transition Unit (CTU) provides state-of-the-art assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation for patients with severe, chronic or treatment-resistant psychiatric illnesses. These patients require more comprehensive and extended services to return to the community with a reduced risk of relapse and readmission. Treatment efforts are aimed at reducing and managing symptoms while strengthening the practical skills needed to return to community living. This position will provide advanced or specialized practice of psychological, neuropsychological, and behavioral assessment services to adult acutely mentally ill patients with severe and persistent mental illness, extremely complicated and severe behavior disorders, and co-occurring disorders such as developmental disorders, substance abuse, and dementia in coordination with interdisciplinary treatment teams.

Requirements

  • Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina under the provisions of the NC Psychology Practice Act (G.S. 90-270)
  • Two years of professional psychological experience, one of which must be postdoctoral. Refer to the law for specifics regarding experience requirements.

  • Ability to administer, score and report psychological assessments, tests, and measures.
  • Ability to conduct behavioral assessments, including preference and reinforcer assessments and the functional analysis of conditions maintaining problem behavior as well as the assessment of risk
  • Ability to provide psychological treatment to mentally ill patients, including individual and group psychotherapy, individual capacity restoration, techniques for increasing adaptive behavior such as shaping, differential reinforcement of behavior, modeling, and behavioral skills training, and in techniques for reducing problem behavior via contingency management.
  • Completion of the doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited program.
  • Completion of an accredited psychology internship training program.
