Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Pontiac MI five days per week. The Role: We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Propulsion System Development & Integration Engineer to lead the integration and development of propulsion systems within GM's sports car racing programs. This role combines responsibilities from both Propulsion Development and Design System Engineering, focusing on designing, developing, testing, and optimizing engine systems to deliver peak performance and durability on track. This position requires strong leadership, deep technical knowledge, and excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Full-time on-site work is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related subjects.
  • 5+ years of ICE engine development or integration experience, preferably in motorsports or high-performance applications.
  • Strong understanding of engine hardware, combustion systems, and powertrain fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills - lead DRE's, lead DSE meetings, lead task forces.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in fast-paced environments.
  • High level of oral and written communication skills; presentation preparation for senior leadership reviews.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related subjects.
  • Experience in engine calibration, development/validation (Dev/Val), or racing engine programs.
  • Familiarity with in-cylinder pressure systems and advanced combustion diagnostics.
  • Prior experience with GPDP, GVDP, or other engineering review processes.
  • Background in DRE or DSE roles.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and regulatory processes for propulsion systems.
  • Experience with in-cylinder pressure measurement systems and advanced combustion analysis.
  • High-level expertise in propulsion system modeling and simulation tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and integration of race engines to meet performance, durability, and reliability targets.
  • Design, develop, and validate engine architecture and subsystems aligned with racing program requirements.
  • Ensure all components function together as a complete propulsion system optimized for motorsports applications.
  • Plan and execute engine dynamometer and track-based tests for performance and durability validation.
  • Analyze test data, identify root causes of issues, and implement improvements in hardware and calibration.
  • Create and lead specific program forums such as VAPIR/VCPIT/VCIT and APET.
  • Coordinate propulsion component math data into tracking vehicles and resolve packaging issues.
  • Aid in the development of calibration and software for propulsion system controls, optimizing performance, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Provide technical guidance in propulsion system validation, ensuring alignment with program goals.
