About The Position

As a Senior Propulsion Component Engineer (Fluids) at Impulse, you will own all aspects of component design from concept to product realization, while working closely with a fast-paced, agile team that strives to make a high-performance spacecraft from a clean sheet design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in valve or component design
  • A strong understanding of component design including: materials selection, compatibility, seals, wear, and force/torque margin determination.
  • Hands-on experience working with fluid, electrical and mechanical systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency in CAD software with ability to learn new tools
  • Demonstrated ability in requirements definition, conceptual design, procurement, fabrication, assembly and testing of hardware

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing and operating high reliability, high performance hardware
  • Experience with low leakage, on-orbit propulsion components
  • Experience in a startup or agile development environment
  • Strong project management skills and effective communication of technical concepts across multi-disciplinary teams

Responsibilities

  • Design propulsion system valves and fluid components including cryogenic, high pressure and high temperature systems
  • Own all aspects of component design from initial concepts to product realization
  • Generate detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings
  • Perform fluid, thermal, and structural analysis as required
  • Establish assembly procedures and work hands-on with technicians to refine this process
  • Define and support rigorous component development and qualification testing
  • Resolve technical issues with innovative and resourceful solutions
