The Senior Property Accountant reports to the Director of Property Accounting and is responsible for the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting of a portfolio of commercial properties. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial results, strong cash management, and timely reporting for internal teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting.
  • 5+ years of accounting and relevant industry experience
  • High level of computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills to solve problems.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Strong knowledge of workpapers, corporate entity & loan structures, and property operations.
  • Ability to drive results and meet strict deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA a plus
  • experience with general ledger software is a plus, including MRI, Yardi, Timberline

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily accounting for a portfolio of three properties. Review and approve accounts payable, oversee cash management—including bank reconciliations and daily cash balances, process cash receipts, prepare loan draws, and collaborate with operations and asset management on property financial activities and ad hoc reports.
  • Monthly GL Close – Close the GL monthly (GAAP and cash general ledgers) and prepare workpapers.
  • Prepare monthly reports – Prepare monthly reporting packages for internal and external use, i.e., investor, lender compliance, asset management, and operational reports.
  • Cash Forecasting – Manage the cash flow projections to meet the cash needs of the portfolio.
  • Budgets – Assist in the preparation of the annual budgets and collaborate with the real estate team to ensure accurate and timely information.
  • Annual Audit – Assist in the annual audit process; manage interim work, issue timely workpapers, audit report templates, and footnotes.
  • Property Taxes – Assist in the annual RPIE and TC 201 process.
