Hyster-Yale Materials Handling Inc, a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented Senior Project Test Technician based at our Counterbalance Development Center in Fairview, Oregon . What you will do: Plan, schedule, and supervise testing activities and facilities to assess the performance, durability, and integrity of prototype and existing lift trucks. Establish test requirements, modify equipment, and develop procedures to meet project objectives. Collaborate with engineering teams and other departments to coordinate test programs, resolve development issues, and drive improvements in product validation. Provide technical consultation, recommendations, and training for designers, engineers, and Test Technicians. Execute test plans by assembling, maintaining, and repairing prototypes; conduct tests, analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and communicate results via detailed reports. Lead initiatives to enhance testing efficiency, quality, and compliance with engineering standards and ISO9000 certification. Requirements

  • Associate of Applied Science Degree in a relevant field; additional accredited certifications are a plus.
  • 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Higher-level Welding, Machining, and Fabrication experience with a demonstrated ability to work with a variety of materials and processes used in manufacturing lift trucks and related components.
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, including components, weldments, hydraulic, and electrical schematics.
  • Ensures accurate assembly and compliance with engineering standards and ISO9000 certification.
  • Strong practical understanding of machining practices, manufacturing methods, and tolerances—supporting high-quality and efficient product validation and testing.
  • Ability to operate lift trucks safely and efficiently; contributing directly to the materials handling process.

  • Extremely detail-oriented—ensuring test accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of tools, with a strong emphasis on Excel for data management and analysis.
  • Experience with sensor selection and data acquisition systems such as SOMAT EDAQ and Vector CANalyzer, including knowledge of vehicle CAN communication protocols.
  • Demonstrated hands-on abilities in fabrication, machining, welding, and both general mechanical and electrical repair, including advanced troubleshooting of industrial vehicles.
  • Specialized understanding of DC/AC electrical circuits.
  • Mechanical aptitude and practical experience with vehicle repairs, including work on cars or trucks.
