The Senior Project Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the successful execution of construction projects across the division. This position provides high-level oversight, leadership, and direction to Project Managers and project teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role emphasizes performance management, team leadership, operational excellence, and strong client relationships, while supporting the division in achieving its financial and operational objectives.

Requirements

  • 10–15 years of experience in construction project management, including leadership of multiple projects
  • Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager in heavy civil, infrastructure, or aviation construction
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills
  • Solid financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
  • Experience with project management, financial, and construction software systems
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in ESOP or employee-owned environments
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CPC, OSHA 30/500, AASHTO TSP2)
  • Experience in DOT, aviation, or public infrastructure projects

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive-level oversight of multiple construction projects across the division
  • Support the development and execution of project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation
  • Ensure alignment between estimating assumptions, project execution strategies, and field performance
  • Monitor project performance and support teams in meeting schedule, budget, quality, and safety targets
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and support corrective actions when needed
  • Lead, mentor, and support Project Managers, engineers, and project teams
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Set performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and development of project management talent
  • Ensure teams have the resources, tools, and guidance needed to succeed
  • Address performance issues and resolve conflicts in alignment with company values and policies
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for key clients and stakeholders
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships
  • Proactively manage expectations and address concerns
  • Ensure consistent communication and high levels of client satisfaction
  • Support business development efforts through client engagement and project delivery excellence
  • Oversee project financial performance, including budgets, forecasting, and cost control
  • Review and support approval of project-related expenses, contracts, and change orders
  • Monitor division-level performance and contribute to achieving financial targets
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and cost management
  • Identify project risks and support mitigation strategies in collaboration with Project Managers
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, permits, safety standards, and environmental requirements
  • Support resolution of complex project issues and escalations
  • Collaborate with internal teams (legal, safety, insurance) to manage project risk effectively
