About The Position

Under limited direction of the Director of Planning, Design, and Energy, directs the activities related to budgeting, planning, defining, managing, executing and evaluating large-scale Facility Construction projects. Ensures that project schedules, cost and overall quality performance objectives are met across a diverse range of capital improvement projects. Coordinates, manages, and monitors the progress of assigned projects and programs at all stages of development to ensure timely/efficient/cost effective projects. The Senior Project Manager will coach, educate, and train Project Managers and Assistant Project Manager in using project management methodologies to meet GBMC strategic objectives for each project. S/he will assist in the development of the annual Facilities Construction budget recommendations. He/she will provide facility planning including confidential discussions of the strategic plan of GBMC.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Experience: 8 years directly related experience; should be progressively responsible experience with 5 years project manager experience.
  • Skills: • Knowledge of Joint Commission, EOC & Life Safety Standards related to Construction. • Proven Skill in project management techniques including budgeting, cost estimating, development of construction project time lines, use of work plan and issues management tools and/or software. • Ability to review CAD drawings. • General idea of Construction Engineering • Develops & manages project documentation, record keeping, financial and activity status reports that are accurate, up-to-date, clear and complete in support of the decision making, issue solving and informing processes of a project. Ensure that the project documentation records are organized & stored properly. • Skill in oral and written communication. • Demonstrated leadership managing people. • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. • Ability to coordinate effective solutions to organizational needs. • Ability to deal effectively with staff at all level of the organization.

  • Written Communications. Is able to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings and styles to get the message across and have the desired effect. Forms of communication include but are not limited to project statusing and issues management; effective team member communication on roles/assignments; goals/; agenda/minutes; effective delivery of formal presentations to both large and small groups; with peers and bosses.
  • Priority Setting. Spends time on what is important; quickly zeros in on the critical few and puts trivial things aside; can sense what will help/hinder accomplishing a goal; eliminates roadblocks; creates focus.
