The Project: Mace is seeking a full-time Senior Project Manager to work directly with our clients and take responsibility for end-to-end delivery of multi-million-dollar capital projects and programs across the West Coast of the United States. The successful candidate will lead on a variety of emerging opportunities spanning San Francisco, Seattle and Los Angeles, supporting Mace through this next exciting period of regional growth across the Corporate Real Estate, Industrial Manufacturing, and Life Sciences sectors. The role is client-facing, effectively serving in an Owner’s Representative capacity. Regular travel to project sites throughout the West Coast is expected. Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field such as project management and/or construction related discipline (MS or MBA preferred), or equivalent professional experience/apprenticeship, combined with a demonstrable intermediate level of role knowledge.
  • Minimum eight (8) years client-facing capital project/program leadership experience in the Corporate Real estate, Industrial Manufacturing, or Life Sciences sectors.
  • Effectively managed large, diverse, integrated team(s) on large complex and multi-phase projects.
  • Experience of developing and forming relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Substantial experience in the construction phase of projects.
  • Commercial and financial acumen.
  • Knowledge of multiple project delivery methods and US contracts, including alternative project delivery (Design Bid Build, Design Build and Construction Manager at Risk).
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, presentation and written skills.
  • Capability of using project management tools; MS Project or P6, cost/controls basics, and common data environments (SharePoint, Procore, Aconex, ACC/BIM 360, or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating Mace's value of safety first, including promoting and following health, safety and environment (HSE) policies and regulations, and committing to enhancing site safety culture and initiatives throughout all phases of the project.
  • Providing strategic advice and acting as the key client and consultant interface from project inception/brief, through development and planning, contractor procurement and construction phase, ensuring that client and quality objectives are met, and projects are delivered within safety, quality, time and cost targets.
  • Determining, procuring and arranging technical services and external resources required for the project on behalf of the client organization, including developing and coordinating briefs and scopes, reviewing fees and proposals, undertaking bid levelling, and making recommendations.
  • Directing and managing the performance of cross-functional project teams, specialist design teams, consultants, contractors and vendors to ensure successful execution of assigned capital programs and projects.
  • Performing contract administration for consultants and contractors (change requests, risk identification, payment application reviews etc.)
  • Establishing key relationships with the client and other key stakeholders.
  • Coordinating the project team to meet code/AHJ entitlements, and landlord/lease needs.
  • Implementing an appropriate and effective project management framework, including establishing and managing effective project governance, processes and systems to be utilized throughout a project.
  • Producing and maintaining the project execution plan (PEP), RACI, risk log, and change control register.
  • Managing and documenting weekly progress and coordination meetings.
  • Managing project budgets and financials.
  • Managing value engineering and cost optimization activities.
  • Developing master schedules and integrating stakeholder, consultant, contractor and vendor delivery schedules.
  • Conducting site inspections to verify progress and provide quality assurance.
  • Partnering with relevant stakeholders to drive proactive risk management and mitigation strategies.
  • Anticipating and implementing strategies to address quality, safety, health and environment issues.
  • Managing the reporting and the flow of program/project information between the team and the client.
  • Coordinating closeout activities including punch lists, commissioning, training, and post-occupancy support.
  • Ensuring approved handover documentation is coordinated and provided prior to completion.
  • Monitoring and applying performance management techniques using KPI’s to improve project performance.
  • Providing subject matter knowledge from the broader Mace projects and business units to support teams and ensure optimal project outcomes.
  • Actively networking so to innovate, and seek understanding of best practice, utilizing the full depth of knowledge of Mace group, the centers of excellence, Mace way control centre and knowledge hub.
