About The Position

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of assigned projects while also owning the company wide construction schedule and backlog coordination. This role extends beyond traditional project management, serving as a central operator of field execution, ensuring alignment between project priorities, crew allocation, equipment and logistics, and weekly and long-range schedules.

Requirements

  • 5 + years of experience in heavy civil, underground utilities, industrial, or water/wastewater construction.
  • Bachelor s degree in civil engineering or construction management.
  • Proven ability to take projects from challenge through successful completion.
  • Strong financial management and contract administration skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned projects from pre-construction through closeout.
  • Develop and maintain budgets, schedules, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Ensure punch list completion, documentation compliance, and final financial reconciliation.
  • Full P&L responsibility for assigned projects or portfolios.
  • Protect margins through cost control, forecasting, and change management.
  • Maintain accurate WIP reporting, billing, and cash flow coordination.
  • Lead change order strategy, negotiation, and documentation.
  • Provide senior oversight to PMs, APMs, and Project Engineers.
  • Serve as escalation point for technical, contractual, or execution challenges.
  • Resolve unforeseen site conditions and design conflicts.
  • Mentor Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, and younger staff.
  • Coach teams on cost control, scheduling logic, and contract awareness.
  • Develop future PM and Senior PM talent through accountability and coaching.
  • Champion RP safety standards.
  • Ensure regulatory, contractual, and company compliance.
  • Support documentation for commissioning and project closeout.
  • Own and maintain the Master Construction Schedule.
  • Manage weekly crew schedules, 2 6-week lookaheads, and backlog schedule.
  • Align schedule with priorities, resources and contracts between field and office.
  • Assist leadership with prioritizations and sequencing.
  • Coordinate with General Superintendents, Foreman, and Operations.
  • Balance manpower across jobs and backlog.
  • Resolve conflicts (needing to sub work out) and risks of downtime.
  • Work with the Director of Logistics on equipment and yard needs.
  • Anticipate resource needs based on schedule.
