About The Position

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for managing project deliverables to design, procure, install, commission and close out large-scale battery storage systems at customer sites. This includes defining and managing project scope, schedule, budget, internal and external stakeholder management, change and risk management, project reporting and contracts management. As a Senior Project Manager, you will be the primary interface between the customer and project stakeholders. You will work closely with Engineering resources to ensure that installations meet all technical specifications in accordance with the customer contract. The ideal candidate will take responsibility for all elements of project delivery. This is an opportunity to contribute to the growth in North America and the expansion of the Project Management organization. This position reports to the Director of Project Management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead battery storage system projects from initiation through installation, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Stakeholder Management:
  • Establishes a trust relationship with their counterpart
  • Can identify, and fill the gap in customer’s lack of experience
  • Can drive the project for the customer when necessary
  • Can handle negotiations independently
  • Can address customer frustrations with minimal escalations.
  • Project point of contact for external and internal stakeholders including Engineering resources, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Maintains a deeper level of relationship with suppliers - understanding supplier hierarchy and how to best motivate suppliers to deliver
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the supplier MSA, PO and is able to escalate and advocate for quality or logistical issues with the supply chain team
  • Conduct regular project status meetings, follow up actions, and provide reports to customers as well as internal Management, including project cost, scope, schedule, and quality.
  • Coordinate preparation and submittal of manuals, drawings, reports and other documentation and deliverables to meet customer requirements.
  • Contract Management:
  • Provides strategy/recommendations for contractual issues/disputes.
  • Documents and suggest contract changes.
  • Has built a whole contract compliance matrix

  • Provides strategy/recommendations for contractual issues/disputes.
  • Developing an understanding of contracts and understands parts of the contract applicable to the role supporting (delivery terms, inspection responsibilities, SC obligations, etc.)
  • Responsible for compliance with all contractual requirements and development of change orders. Work with a team to develop solutions to address any gaps.
  • Project Controls (Financial and Schedule)
  • Strategically optimizes forecast to ensure high forecast accuracy
  • Coaches PMs on financial strategy and decision-making
  • Balances commercial decisions with long-term customer relationship goals
  • Tracks when vendors or 3rd party need to get paid.
  • Learns the interworking on the Financial Project Tracking Sheet (PTS) and assists in PTS/Revenue Tracking/ Forecast/ Scheduling duties for the project.
  • Has regular meetings with project scheduler to keep the P6 schedule updated
  • Technical Design & Engineering Support:
  • Is curious & does not shy away from technical topics
  • Has a thorough knowledge of AEROS features, battery & PCS products & design, codes, UL/NFPA certifications etc.
  • Can articulate clearly in MPR/Project status on what the exact technical issue is, what the impact of the issue, and what the next steps are
  • Can ask questions, and get consensus between engineering groups when needed
  • Learn the basics of AEROS (LG EMS Software), Battery, PCS products.
  • Commissioning:
  • Supports Cx coordination activities, attends daily PODs and supports the team as needed.
  • Risk Management:
  • Is assessing risk at every meeting & project progress
  • Can delve into technical topics, and able to guide engineering/software teams on what our risk appetite is for the project
  • Goes beyond contractual obligations, and proactively thinks about risk
  • Can go beyond manufacturer recommendations and plan for spare parts
  • Identifies risks & alerts Portfolio Manager and proposes solutions/ideas
  • Mentoring and Coaching
  • Is able to mentor and guide new PM or APM in their team
  • Process Improvements:
  • Recommends process updates and takes an active role in improving our quality of execution not just for their project but for the wider team
