AKIVA is seeking a Senior Project Manager / Planner to provide client interface and overall leadership across a program covering a wide variety of project types and complexities at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System. The Senior PM/Planner is responsible for ensuring high-quality products and services are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget across task and delivery orders — and for reviewing projects across the program for consistency with program objectives. AKIVA-provided AI-assisted reporting and documentation tools may be used to accelerate status reporting, assessment documentation, and executive briefings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience
  • Familiarity with Patient Centered Care culture in healthcare
  • Experience working with commercial or hospital systems in master or strategic planning
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging executive leadership and multi-level stakeholders
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • PMP or equivalent project management certification
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and Revit
  • Prior experience supporting VA or DoD healthcare master planning

Responsibilities

  • Develop project charters, plan project mobilization, and develop Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms)
  • Write formal reports summarizing findings from assessments of the current state of hospital support, laydown, and space
  • Respond to calls, emails, RFIs, and requests for information from the VALB Program Manager
  • Attend VALB Clinical Planning Meetings and write formal reports of findings on VALB priorities over the next 15 years
  • Review the VALB Master Plan; identify document areas and priorities that may have changed based on the Current State of Hospital Report
  • Participate in scoping sessions to determine changes; summarize recommended projects and large-space moves over the next 15 years
  • Present recommended changes to the VALB Master Plan to leadership; assess scope and impact of Deep Dives and lead working groups to help PMs develop Deep Dive plans
  • Identify Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and availability; provide monthly progress updates with formal written and verbal documentation of work completed
  • Produce visualization products and briefs for VALB Executive Leadership, VISN (Veterans Integrated Service Network), national VA leadership, NGOs, and political leadership
  • Integrate with VALB Public Affairs to develop short- and long-term communications strategy; review assessments and recommendations for compliance with federal regulations and standards
