About The Position

Join a talented team of engineering professionals at Vogt Power International Inc. Vogt is based in Louisville, KY and specializes in the design, manufacture and supply of equipment and solutions to the power generation industry. We are an industry leader in heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) with both domestic and international customers. The Senior Project Scheduler will be responsible for developing and maintaining capital project CPM schedules including engineering, purchasing, fabrication and logistics for new Heat Recovery Steam Generator projects. Responsibilities include interfacing with project management and project team members through updating, managing and objectively reporting project schedule status. Additionally, he/she will review and analyze fabricator schedules and evaluate change orders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction or Business discipline preferred. Equivalent experience also acceptable.
  • Demonstrated experience as a planner/scheduler for engineering, procurement construction projects. Experience in Power Generation industry preferred. Other industries, Energy, Utilities, or petroleum. Minimum five (5) to ten (10) years of relevant planning experiences.
  • Must be able to manage and prioritize work on multiple projects simultaneously and respond quickly to problems.
  • Must be organized and be able to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines and be able to perform self-initiated and planned activities.
  • Must have a natural ability to focus on details and ensure a high level of accuracy in daily work.
  • Experience in the use of Word, Excel, Primavera P6, Visio, MS Project
  • Demonstrated computer experience and knowledge required.

Nice To Haves

  • Primavera training courses (P102, P106, 601-603) are preferred.
  • Experience in Power Generation industry preferred. Other industries, Energy, Utilities, or petroleum.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and monitor engineering, purchasing equipment fabrication, and logistics in CPM schedules.
  • Develop proposal schedules in coordination with Supply Management, Logistics, and Engineering to support sales.
  • Work closely with Project Manager and Project Engineer in coordination with Discipline Managers to develop and maintain detailed man-hour resource loaded schedules using P6. Creates and maintains baseline schedules in conjunction with working schedule.
  • Performs Critical Path analysis and reports variances.
  • Coordinates the integration of vendor and subcontractor work (engineering, material lead time, fabrication, and delivery) into CPM schedules. Assists with coordination of material, components, systems and necessary drawings from suppliers that conform to the condition of vendor/subcontractor purchase order.
  • Monitors and analyses vendor fabrication schedules and updates CPM schedule for progress. Communicates issues or vendor schedule delays to Lead (or higher) planner, Supply Management, and / or Project Manager.
  • Assures establishment of appropriate purchasing and manufacturing lead times with assistance from Supply Management.
  • Advises engineering and purchasing departments to assist in resolving difficulties and/or delays.
  • Assists in tracking internal and external change requests through the creation of schedule activities and network logic. Identify any changes to project baseline plan that constitutes a change order to project.
  • Identify and monitor potential risks, taking the lead to effectively communicate schedule risks
  • Prepares, reviews, and issues weekly and monthly schedule reports in various formats ranging from project layout reports to simple bar charts and audit progress against the plan. Prepares project analysis charts, job forecasts, labor forecasts, and project status.
  • Chairs project team meetings to discuss project status and reestablish objectives to resolve schedule issues.
  • Provides input and analysis for the Monthly Project Review for management.
  • Generates Earned Value reporting for Project Manager and Upper Management in conjunction with CPI/SPI reporting. Coordinates time collection actuals to Primavera project schedule.
  • Provides timely variance analysis and early warning indicators to management on critical or near critical activities by analyzing variances in schedule performance against the plan and communicates the reasons for the variance and proposed mitigation plans to Project Management.
  • Takes all necessary steps to ensure that project is closed out in a timely manner.
