Senior Project Manager - Landscape Architecture

Weston & SampsonBoston, MA

About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Project Landscape Architect who brings strong technical expertise, practical construction knowledge, and leadership ability to help shape public spaces across the East Coast. You will play a key role in leading multidisciplinary teams through all phases of design, from concept and documentation to construction administration. A background that includes field observation, detailing, and construction-phase problem-solving will be highly valued. You’ll take ideas from sketch to site. This role is both creative and technical; you’ll help envision great public spaces and make sure they actually get built.

  • AutoCAD with Land F/X, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Strong understanding of grading, drainage, utilities, planting design, and detailing
  • Experience leading the preparation of bid and construction documents
  • Proven experience with construction administration, cost tracking, and field coordination
  • Applied knowledge of codes, permitting, ADA, and sustainable design practices
  • Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proven mentoring and collaboration skills
  • Curiosity and passion for creating resilient, inclusive, and well-built public spaces

Nice To Haves

  • Professional licensure (RLA) strongly preferred
  • 3D modeling and visualization tools such as SketchUp, Rhino, Lumion, or Enscape
  • Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Civil 3D, GIS, or BIM coordination is a plus

  • Coordinate directly with clients, consultants, and project partners to keep work moving and expectations aligned
  • Visit sites, lead field investigations, and turn real-world conditions into practical, buildable design solutions
  • Advance design thinking and strengthen our studio’s creative culture through collaboration and critique
  • Produce detailed plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates that balance craft with constructability
  • Review submittals, RFIs, and change orders; lead punch walks and field reports; and mentor others through construction-phase problem-solving
  • Prepare and support scopes, budgets, and schedules while keeping an eye on quality and detail. Lead coordination, track progress, and make sure every deliverable meets both client goals and Weston & Sampson standards.
  • Provide constructive feedback, guide design development, and help junior staff build technical confidence. Encourage open communication and continuous improvement across teams and offices
  • Contribute to proposals, graphics, and interviews. Build relationships with clients through your project work, and represent Weston & Sampson at conferences, events, and presentations.
  • Track project budgets, help forecast staff workloads, and support smart resource planning on a weekly basis in support of project managers.
