About The Position

Lead and manage BIW manufacturing process installation projects involving robotic automation and supporting equipment. Collaborate with the Director of Manufacturing Engineering Strategy & Investment to define project scope, objectives, and execution plan. Oversee installation, commissioning, and validation of ~70 robots and related BIW equipment (fixtures, welding guns, conveyors, material handling). Coordinate among U.S., China, and Mexico teams to ensure alignment on technical standards and milestones. Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, risk assessments, and resource allocation. Partner with suppliers and integrators to ensure on-time delivery and successful commissioning. Support process capability validation, trials, and launch readiness at the Monterrey facility. Drive continuous improvement aligned with OEM Production System principles. Provide project status reports highlighting progress, risks, and mitigation plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
  • 15+ years of experience in BIW manufacturing, process engineering, or project management within automotive/heavy truck industries.
  • In-depth hands-on knowledge of BIW processes, tooling, welding, joining, and automation systems.
  • Proven experience managing robotic installation projects (preferably 50+ robots).
  • Experience coordinating projects across global manufacturing sites (especially China and Mexico).
  • Strong expertise in robotic system commissioning, installation sequencing, and plant layout optimization.
  • Skilled in leading cross-functional, multi-location teams under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with OEM Production Systems and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, etc.).
  • Experience with major robot brands (ABB, FANUC, KUKA).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Mandarin) preferred but not required.
