About The Position

The Collins Aerospace Avionics Test Engineering organization has an opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer leading multidisciplinary teams of engineers (including systems, mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines) developing complex engineering solutions. This is a multi-faceted role requiring versatility across a variety of tasks in a highly collaborative environment. The role requires allows you to collaborate with engineers and leaders at locations around the globe to ensure project success. The Avionics Test Engineering organization is a global engineering organization responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the manufacturing test solutions in support of the $5B Avionics strategic business unit as well as external customers including armed services and airlines both domestic and international. As a key member of the Avionics Test Engineering team, you will ensure the successful execution of test solution projects from inception through deployment to customers as well as long-term support. Typical test solutions include Optical, In-circuit Test, Boundary Scan, as well as COTS components such as switch systems, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies and other related equipment coupled with custom software for performing Environmental Stress Screening as well as testing circuit card assemblies and top-level products. Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
  • 4+ years of Electrical, Mechanical, Software, or Systems engineering experience.
  • 4+ years of project management experience.
  • Fundamental project management skills including baseline control, earned value, and risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project technical execution and maintain performance metrics for decision making and continuous improvement purposes.
  • Manage project scope (requirements and change requests) ensuring it meets agreed to commitments.
  • Generate and maintain project schedules with understood dependencies, deliveries, and critical path.
  • Utilize Earned Value (EV) methods for managing project budget (and schedule).
  • Ensure project meets quality expectations.
  • Identify risks and opportunities and resolve them through proactive ownership.
  • Prepare well-crafted presentations reporting project status to leadership teams.
  • Develop Engineering estimates and proposals for potential projects and gaining organizational buy-in.
