We provide: Competitive compensation and benefits Work-life flexibility Recognition and rewards Development and career opportunities A safe and inclusive workplace Why You Will Love this Job BASIC FUNCTION As a key member of the automation team, the candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and testing PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) programs for moderately complex switchgear systems. The candidate will possess strong technical expertise in industrial automation.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 5 years of software development experience.
  • Experience in generating formal system requirements and specifications.
  • Understanding of good software design and documentation practices.
  • Experience working in a structured work environment.
  • Experience in software development processes and software version control.
  • Experience with PLC programming. Modicon Concept or Unity, Emerson Proficy Machine Edition, or Allen Bradley (Rockwell Automation).
  • Experience with HMI programming. Iconics, Vijeo-Designer or similar.
  • Ability to work on and complete multiple tasks in a timely fashion
  • Experience with various communications protocols (e.g., RS-485, Modbus, J1939 CAN, TCP/IP).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and optimize PLC programs for controlling switchgear and related equipment, including integration with protection, control, and monitoring systems.
  • Design and configure user-friendly HMIs for system control, monitoring, and diagnostics, ensuring intuitive interfaces and accurate representation of system parameters.
  • Work in a team environment to develop software requirements, architecture, and structure.
  • Work closely with electrical engineers, project managers, and field technicians to ensure smooth integration of PLC/HMI systems with switchgear, control panels, and other automation equipment.
  • Identify, track, and correct software defects.
  • Produce comprehensive documentation, including program code, HMI layouts, system configuration, and user manuals.
  • Assist in the commissioning of PLC/HMI systems at client sites, ensuring full functionality.
  • Review and markup design drawings, bills of materials and sequences of operations for switchgear control systems.
  • Work on special projects as dictated by the needs of the department.
