This role focuses on the systems integration of manufacturing equipment and the support services required to maintain equipment and building operations, with an emphasis on structural systems, including crane systems and lifting devices. Work assignments are aligned with individual expertise, experience, and educational background, with major projects distributed accordingly. Close coordination across multiple disciplines is essential to ensure successful project execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology required, with a minimum of 8–10 years of professional experience.
  • Proficient in Creo 3D CAD modeling and drawing applications, or equivalent software such as Inventor or SolidWorks.
  • Ability to communicate and have basic knowledge of functions performed by skilled trades personnel.
  • Interpersonal, teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Understanding of shop operations and maintenance procedures as well as previous experience in a particular discipline.
  • Understanding of machine tools with hands on experience.
  • Project management skills / experience.
  • Working knowledge of MS Project, Primavera.
  • Experience in heavy machine installation and foundations.
  • High degree of experience and expertise in designing and/or redesigning service systems such as heat treat equipment., material handling systems, filtration systems, paint systems, utilities for water, gas, steam, air heating, ventilation, etc.
  • Strong understanding of effective communication principles, tools, and techniques.
  • Ability to clearly convey, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and requirements through appropriate and professional communication practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support short-term and long-term capital projects to increase manufacturing capacity and operational efficiency.
  • Develop technical specifications and functional requirements for facilities-related projects.
  • Evaluate the suitability of new equipment against industrial standards and specifications; recommend modifications or revisions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and practices related to quality, cost optimization, safety, hazardous materials, and ergonomics.
  • Maintain and update standards and specifications; recommend improvements to address design or construction challenges; prepare periodic project status and progress reports.
  • Prepare cost estimates for equipment, materials, and installation to assess feasibility, alternatives, and return on investment.
  • Provide technical design guidance, review and approve proposals, and serve as the primary company point of contact for assigned projects.
  • Review and approve drawings, specify equipment, and prepare purchase requisitions.
  • Oversee and coordinate the work of external contractors to ensure scope, schedule, and quality requirements are met.
  • Act as a technical troubleshooter by investigating system or equipment failures, inefficiencies, and repair or improvement needs.
  • Resolve complex design challenges by identifying cost-effective and efficient system solutions, recommending equipment purchases, and staying current with industry trends and technical advancements.
