The Senior Program Manager, reporting to the Manager or Director of Program Management, is responsible for coordinating and managing all activities and contractual obligations for assigned programs. This role serves as the primary communication link between the customer and Moog, regularly advising management and customers on status and potential issues, and implementing corrective actions. Senior Program Managers typically oversee several programs of significant divisional impact, which may be new or ongoing, with a total value usually between $5M and $30M. While not having direct reports, the Senior Program Manager coordinates the activities of a program staff as needed. The role is distinguished from a Program Manager by the individual's higher level of skill, knowledge, and experience, and a heavier program load, including proposal responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Intermediate to Advanced skills in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel and Powerpoint applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical or Business Management and 3 to 8 years of program management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Significant experience in and demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:
  • Proposal preparation
  • High Level Estimate at Completion (EAC) Knowledge
  • High Level Estimate to Complete (ETC) Knowledge
  • High Level MS Office Suite and MS Project Knowledge
  • High Level Baseline Scope and Change Management Knowledge
  • Material & Labor Forecasting
  • Risk and Opportunity Mitigation & Planning
  • Negotiating skills to facilitate agreement on technical and contractual matters
  • Listening and people handling skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills for the preparation and presentation of materials to internal groups and to the customer
  • Utilization of the scheduling, status reporting and cost reporting systems
  • Understanding of contractual terms, conditions and requirements including FAR 15 & TINA compliant proposals & contracts

Nice To Haves

  • A Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) with significant program management experience (7-10 years) in the manufacturing of products for the aerospace or defense industries.
  • Experience working with DoD customers; knowledge of DoD contractual terms, conditions, and requirements.
  • PMP certification is a plus!
  • Experience with electronic systems.
  • Experience managing multiple programs.
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Project and Excel.
  • Negotiation skills to facilitate agreement on technical and contractual matters.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence others.

Responsibilities

  • Managing ALL aspects of a program from contract award through end item delivery.
  • Support to sales and proposal efforts through fact finding and negotiations.
  • Meeting ALL program contractual requirements.
  • Acting as a single point of contact for the customer and therefore must be conversant on all aspects of the program.
  • Accomplishing the program objectives by managing the activities of a multi-disciplined team.
  • Interfacing with the appropriate functional managers and supervisors to ensure the assignment of adequate resources.
  • Having the financial acumen and management skills necessary to successfully plan, schedule, budget and execute new and ongoing programs.
  • Identification of critical milestones and the insertion of adequate slack in the program schedules to accommodate unplanned events.
  • Preparing the appropriate materials and report to management on the status of assigned programs at monthly program management reviews.
  • Identifying and reporting problems of an urgent nature to the Manager of Program Management as soon as possible.
  • Proactive in identifying issues and problems which impact program performance, and in taking appropriate actions to resolve these issues and recover cost and schedule, in a timely manner.
  • Identifying program risks, including cost, technical and schedule risks, as early as possible and developing mitigation plans to minimize potential program impacts.
  • Coordinating with the Manager/Director of Program Management if actions or plans may incur additional cost or affect contractual obligations.
  • Coordinating customer visits and reviews.
  • Preparation of agenda, assignment of presentation materials preparation, and physical preparations such as a meeting location, food, transportation, etc.
  • Maintaining the highest level of personal integrity and insist on similar behavior from the program team.
  • Carrying a heavier program load along with proposal responsibilities on an as needed basis.
