About The Position

The program manager, patient care services hold the overall responsibility of supporting the patient care services, working to improve patient outcomes across the breadth and depth of the organization. Responsibilities include providing thought leadership, subject matter expertise, and process improvement oversight to key stakeholders across the organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Masters in Nursing preferred
  • Five (5) years of progressive responsibility and directly related work experience. Management experience preferred.
  • Ability to act as both a thought leader and operational expert
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels and in situations requiring instructing, persuading, negotiating, conflict resolution, consulting and advising, as well as flawless written communication
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with widely diverse groups, including individuals at all levels both within and outside the organization and gain their cooperation
  • Ability to plan, organize, motivate, mentor, direct and evaluate the work of others
  • Ability to provide leadership and influence others
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and/or negotiate with others to achieve positive results; establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships
  • Knowledge of Lean, JIT, Six Sigma and/or Flow Manufacturing techniques
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access, Project and Outlook
  • Knowledge of principles of business and management strategic planning, leadership development, and education techniques
  • CA-RN (Registered Nurse)

Responsibilities

  • Provide program leadership for large strategic and cross-functional improvement programs as assigned by the Director.
  • Monitor project and program goals to ensure alignment with the operational plan and strategic plan and alignment across the organization (e.g., inpatient, ambulatory care, emergency services, interventional platform, and interprofessional teams).
  • Defines project scope, goals and deliverables that support strategic business goals in collaboration with the Director and other key stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and use synergies from other projects to design creative solutions for technological and non-technological problems as well as identify future projects.
  • Implements quality control measures to ensure project compliance with department, hospital and university policies, government codes and regulations; also ensures conformance to the requirements of all project participants.
  • Manage program design and structure for department's key initiatives and projects within assigned leadership division, develop strategic input for the Director regarding business objectives of clients for both current and future projects.
  • Coach and mentor department staff through change process and cycles of continuous improvement.
  • Works with various departments and physician groups, develops relationships with key stakeholders, and understands their departmental workflows.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate, coherent, timely and auditable project records and cost estimates, as applicable, within department guidelines.
  • Provides leadership, coordination and support to all team members.
  • Work collaboratively with leadership team to communicate a compelling and inspired vision at achieving clinical excellence.
  • Functions in the role of clinical leader to promote, develop, and assist with fostering shared decision making, innovation and excellence in nursing practice throughout the organization.
  • Oversee the leadership development and professional advancement of high potential nurse leaders at all levels of care.
  • Ensure active involvement of frontline staff in the development of policies, procedures and protocols related to patient care and standards of nursing practice for hospital services, programs and patients.
  • In collaboration with clinical and administrative leadership, assumes system-wide responsibility for coordinating all aspects of special projects for the nursing and inter-professional department and ensures that assigned projects are deployed and hardwired into all areas of the organization.
