About The Position

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Program Coordinator (Community Engagement) for the School of Engineering. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Innovation in Engineering Education, this position ensures student projects demonstrate authentic engineering design/analysis/safety, satisfy ABET-aligned outcomes, and meet SoE's badge certification standards. This position partners with the Program Coordinator for Community Engagement (PCCE) in the NB Provost's Office, with the School of Engineering faculty advisors, and community organizations to embed community voice in the engineering student design cycle process. Among the key duties of the position are the following: Coordinates the engineering validation and academic integration of community-engaged engineering student projects within the School of Engineering (SoE). Supports senior design/course-embedded projects and student organization community engagement projects. Coordinates with the SoE Development Team where industry sponsorship or in-kind support for student projects is involved.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a STEM field and at least 2 years of experience with community outreach programs.
  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position.
  • Experience with engineering design, analysis, prototyping, or testing.
  • Familiarity with ABET outcomes and engineering education practices.
  • Experience working with community organizations or service-learning contexts.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Clean Driving Record.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of experience with community outreach programs (e.g., Engineers Without Borders, EPICS, Habitat for Humanity builds with engineering components).
  • Experience with digital badging or other credentialing systems in higher education.
  • Experience coordinating community-engaged or experiential learning programs.
  • Familiarity with sustainability, ethics in design, or community-partnered research.

Responsibilities
