About The Position

The Community Engagement Coordinator will work closely within the Early Childhood Education team and across all CAC service area departments to engage current clients with the intended outcome to increase community awareness and access to CAC’s core services. The ideal candidate for this position needs to be organized and self-driven, able to communicate in a clear and effective manner, competent in working with matrixed teams, and comfortable working in an agile and collaborative environment. One of the main responsibilities of the Community Engagement Coordinator is to lead cross functional team and organizational efforts to help grow and develop CAC's scaling community engagement programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Social Work, Human Services, Marketing, Communication, or related field
  • 3-5 Years of experience in community outreach, event planning, or nonprofit work
  • Strong communication, public speaking, and relationship-building skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Able to use personal vehicle to travel between CAC locations and to community locations throughout Howard County
  • Able to work in an agile and evolving work environment
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with others
  • Strong computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements an outreach plan for the recruitment and enrollment of Head Start families to achieve enrollment targets
  • Coordinates organizational external outreach efforts across departments
  • Coordinates client and family engagement opportunities
  • Establishes and maintains community partner relationships
  • Supports case management strategies and community partner referrals for clients and prospective clients
  • Tracks event attendance, participation, and engagement metrics to gauge outcomes and community impact
  • Maintains a calendar of community outreach and client engagement events, attends these events and coordinates attendance of staff from other CAC’s departments.
  • Develops and maintains a knowledge base of key information, including eligibility, regarding CAC’s services and key partner services to support staff knowledge and client engagement
  • Visits all CAC locations at least twice monthly
  • Other duties as assigned
