About The Position

Incumbents in this position provide support and leadership for the training functions at the Plant. This is inclusive of operations, maintenance, ESH, engineering, leadership and professional development training. They will enhance developmental opportunities and execute technical training strategies and initiatives that provide employees with the skills to meet the expectations of their roles, enhancing their ability to achieve greater results and sustain compliance with all state and federal regulations. This individual is responsible for scheduling and training in the heavy equipment bid line, new hire orientation, emergency response, leadership, and professional development training.

Requirements

  • 8+ years related experience and/or training
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal knowledge to adjust training to the audience
  • Ability to create and write clear, concise training documents
  • Must be competent working with computer programs such as Windows, Access, Word, and Excel
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Motivation to be creative in developing and delivering training
  • Have or be able to obtain HazMat Instructor certification

Nice To Haves

  • Online Learning system (LMS) administration (preferred)
  • Familiarity with different training methods (preferred)
  • Knowledge or experience in operating heavy equipment or in rail operations (Preferred)
  • Water Blasting experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship
  • Conduct Safety training for all employees to include the 7 Life Critical programs
  • Participate in and instruct employee training through the employee life cycle
  • Schedule and conduct new hire onboarding and emergency response training.
  • Develop and lead individual training programs for production operators in the heavy equipment area which include small to large mobile equipment, rail operations, water blasting. Oversight begins at initial introduction to a position through qualifications by performing walkthroughs, administering testing, providing feedback to trainees, and performing final training qualification. Specific training will include but not limited to:
  • Front-end loader, forklift, telehandler, water truck, sweeper and dump truck
  • Dozers, haul trucks, graders, excavators, etc.
  • Water Blasting and vacuum truck operation to include the WJTA (Waterjet Technology Association) training and certification
  • Rail operations and DOT hazmat regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate training documentation throughout training periods for each employee
  • Assist in managing the weekly production schedule for each area of the operation
  • Evaluate training programs continuously to address training gaps, support employee engagement, growth/development and retention
  • Consult with other trainers, supervisors, operators, managers, and plant leadership on training programs.
  • Determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, conferences, workshops, computer-based training, and demonstrations; select appropriate courseware and training materials that match industry best practices.
  • Adhere to established standards for training programs and document control.
  • Develop training materials by completing research, analyzing educational sources and assessing the needs of each department
  • Assist in creating online LMS training and maintain the LMS system of record
  • Review effectiveness of training and offer alternative solutions to ensure objectives are met
  • Meet with trainees as needed during off shifts and weekends to ensure training program is progressing
  • Track and update timekeeping system for operations and trainees
