Position Summary: This position will lead the design team by providing assignment, training, leadership and technical support. The Senior Production Engineer will act as a mentor to junior engineers and play a critical role in translating engineering designs into manufacturable products, ensuring smooth production transitions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience
  • An understanding of typical HVAC design and the Psychometric chart
  • Proficient with Microsoft office tools and similar Google products
  • 3-D CAD capabilities and SolidWorks modeling
  • Strong critical thinking, organization, and attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and motivated personality
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high level of confidence communicating with customers and suppliers
  • Must be a strong problem solver and team player

Nice To Haves

  • Project management experience strongly preferred
  • Job site/field experience

Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Leading large complex projects that may require additional engineers or resources from other departments and/or subprojects
  • Working on projects as an engineer from the time jobs are sold to the point of shipment
  • Purchasing components, vendor management and follow up, and dealing with continually changing delivery issues
  • Developing metrics to measure projects or department improvement
  • Research improved technology for existing products and propose changes for approval
  • Creating budgets for projects and reporting on progress
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Lead the design team and incorporate DFM principles into product designs from the concept stage
  • Develop and maintain DFM guidelines and best practices within the engineering department
  • Analyze designs for manufacturability, identifying potential issues and proposing design improvements for optimal production flow
  • Production Support: Work closely with the production team to troubleshoot production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  • Monitor production performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Develop metrics to measure success for engineering to manufacturing handoffs i.e. sheet metal designs and remakes, insufficient BoM details, etc.
  • Propose cost savings initiatives or process optimization changes to increase productivity of engineering and/or manufacturing
  • Leadership: Leading production engineering meetings which involve facilitating productive discussions, driving decision-making, fostering collaboration, and staying informed
  • Help develop an SME program and training for production engineering and operation team
  • Drive initiatives for continuous improvement in the engineering team
  • Act as a mentor to junior engineers and technical personnel
