About The Position

As a Senior Product Manager at Copper, you will play a pivotal role in defining and executing the roadmap for our next generation of electrified home appliances. Reporting directly to the VP of Product, you will bridge the gap between hardware and software, ensuring our products deliver exceptional value to a growing and diverse ecosystem of customers, from appliance manufacturers integrating Copper technology to multifamily buildings deploying large fleets of battery equipped appliances to single-family homeowners looking to upgrade their cooking experience and electrify their homes. This role is designed for a self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and is comfortable driving complex projects forward using a combination of data and intuition based on your deep understanding of our customers. You will balance strategic planning with tactical execution, exhibiting excellent judgment on when to make autonomous decisions and when to consult with leadership. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, marketing, design, operations, and sales to bring products to market that reduce reliance on fossil fuels and increase energy resilience. We value a diverse workplace, and are assembling our team to match these values at this early stage. We especially welcome different backgrounds, experiences, abilities, and perspectives, and strongly encourage people of all ethnic backgrounds and genders to apply.

Requirements

  • Proven Experience: 4-7+ years of product management experience, preferably in a startup or high-growth environment where you have worn multiple hats.
  • Strong Technical Foundation: Experience shipping hardware products with a significant software component. You understand the longer lead times of physical builds and how to synchronize them with agile software sprints.
  • Versatility: Experience managing products for both B2B and B2C audiences. You are comfortable discussing technical specs with appliance manufacturers one hour and consumer UX with homeowners the next.
  • Autonomy & Judgment: You are a "manager of one" who can unblock yourself and drive progress independently, but you possess the maturity to know when a decision requires executive input.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and business requirements to engineering teams.
  • Mission Alignment: A genuine passion for electrification, decarbonization, and building products that have a tangible positive impact on the world.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Product Strategy: Partner with the VP of Product to define and manage our product roadmap, balancing the needs of our customers and the technical resources available to deploy.
  • Manage the Full Lifecycle: Oversee the product lifecycle from ideation to launch and beyond for both hardware devices and their companion software experiences.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as the connective tissue between hardware engineering, software development, and commercial teams to ensure technical feasibility meets market requirements.
  • Customer Discovery: Conduct user research and gather feedback across our distinct customer segments to validate features and uncover new opportunities.
  • Prioritize & Execute: Translate high-level business goals into detailed requirements and user stories. Make occasionally challenging prioritization decisions to keep projects on track while maintaining high quality.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Define product success metrics and use data to iterate and improve performance over time.

Benefits

  • We cover 100% of the premiums for our employees and 50% of the premiums for their dependents on our base plans for medical, dental, and vision insurance.
