About The Position

23andMe is looking for a Senior Product Manager to join our Product team. In this role, you’ll lead the charge in reimagining how our members engage with research . You will identify and execute on lean experiments to transform research participation from a clinical transaction into an engaging, rewarding, and appealing experience that delivers value back to our members and drives scientific discovery . Requirements

  • 8+ years experience in product management role.
  • Experimentation Mindset: A strong track record of using lean methodology to test, learn, and iterate on consumer-facing products.
  • Engagement Expertise: Proven track record of driving deep user engagement and retention.
  • AI Fluency: Demonstrated ability to use modern AI prototyping and coding tools to accelerate product development and personal productivity.
  • Experience with web and mobile app development practices.
  • Laser-focus on crafting high quality products.
  • Ability to build relationships and effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization, from C-level to individual contributors.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to evangelize a compelling product vision to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage and influence through persuasion, negotiation, and consensus building.
  • Enthusiasm and creativity to inspire others.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with community building, gamification, or interactive consumer apps is highly valued.
  • Note: Ability to work from 23andMe's office in Palo Alto, CA a minimum of 3 days per week Strongly Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Revolutionize Research Engagement: Chart out new ways for consumers to participate in research, moving beyond traditional surveys to explore new channels and interaction patterns.
  • Drive Experimentation: Champion a culture of rapid learning by designing and executing experiments. You will test hypotheses around gamification, health communities, and social interaction to find what truly motivates our users.
  • Maximize Participation & Data Quality: Drive high engagement rates in study participation and ensure the collection of a broad range of high-quality data across a wide swath of participants. You will focus on making participation feel "worth it" for the user, ensuring a high probability that members accept invitations and complete studies.
  • Increase Motivation & Reduce Friction: Identify and implement mechanisms that encourage people to take part in research. You will focus on identifying the right balance of increasing user motivation and reducing friction to create an experience that is seamless and compelling.
  • Accelerate with AI: Leverage the latest AI prototyping and coding tools to rapidly build, test, and iterate on your ideas, effectively multiplying your efforts and speed to market.
  • Define Strategy & Roadmap: Define the long-term product roadmap and specify requirements that will create the best user experience for our research participants.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Build cross-functional relationships and processes with other product managers, R&D, engineering, analytics, design, and marketing to drive initiatives.
  • Measure Impact: Define success metrics for, measure, and evaluate the impact of product efforts, specifically focusing on participation rates, retention, and data quality.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze and understand data, and leverage that understanding to make data-driven decisions regarding feature prioritization and user experience improvements.
