About The Position

GM Energy is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own the strategy, roadmap, and execution for current and future GM Energy residential products. This may include chargers, home backup systems and energy storage systems. The Senior Product Manager is responsible for delivering reliable, compliant, and customer-centric residential energy products that integrate seamlessly with GM vehicles, software platforms, and installation partners. The role balances near-term execution for launches and sustaining engineering with longer-term platform and cost-down strategy, while working cross-functionally across hardware, software, manufacturing, supplier quality, and operations.

Requirements

  • 6–8 years of experience in product management, systems engineering, or technical program leadership for energy, EV charging or adjacent products.
  • Strong roadmap planning and execution skills.
  • Excellent communication, documentation and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to translate technical complexity into customer-centric solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, MBA, MS or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience working with certification bodies, regulatory requirements, electrical codes and utilities.
  • Familiarity with EV charging standards (Examples: ISO 15118, SAE J1772/J3400, OCPP).
  • Knowledge of certification processes and regulatory compliance for electrical products.
  • Familiarity with utility programs, grid services, or managed charging concepts (V1G/V2G awareness a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Own product vision, roadmap, and lifecycle management for GM Energy residential products.
  • Define product strategies across new launches, feature updates, cost reduction, and end-of-life planning.
  • Maintain and evolve detailed product requirements for GM Energy residential products, including performance, safety, compliance, and customer experience requirements.
  • Translate customer, field, installer, and service feedback into prioritized requirements and backlog items.
  • Partner with engineering and program management to ensure on-time, on-cost, and on-quality delivery.
  • Lead certification strategies and execution for residential energy hardware (e.g., UL, CSA, Energy Star, NEC, grid-interconnection requirements).
  • Facilitate conversations with utilities for key technical integrations.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive landscapes, standards evolution, and utility programs related to residential charging and storage.
