About The Position

Just Play is a dynamic and innovative consumer products company specializing in children's toys, committed to creating engaging and imaginative products that captivate the hearts and minds of children worldwide. The company is seeking an eager Senior Product Designer and Ideator to join its New Brands Team. This new team focuses on creating exciting new product opportunities across various toy categories like plush, dolls, and collectibles, and also ideates, concepts, and presents for licensed pitches. This Idea Creator will use their understanding of the consumer, trends, and technology to then translate into successful products by creating and communicating toy concepts in 2D and/or 3D models to design and marketing management. The ideal candidate should possess a strong ability for ideation of outside-the-box new ideas, strong sketching and illustration skills, and a love for toys. This role is located in the El Segundo, CA office and requires an in-person schedule.

Requirements

• 4+ years of toy design or related product design experience required.
• Experience across product categories like plush, dolls and play sets/accessories.
• Strong sketching and drawing ability.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Adobe Creative Suite proficiency.
• PowerPoint proficiency.
• Understanding of 3D CAD.
• Knowledge of material and manufacturing process for toy development.
• Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
• Knowledge of current trends.
• Understanding of features and play patterns in the toys.
• Able to work on several projects at once.
• A blue-sky thinker who can problem solve the idea into reality
• A love of toys
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
• Fluency in English (both written and verbal).

Responsibilities

• Actively generate new designs and ideas for New IP Brands at Just Play.
• Execute on Idea Generation and Product Designs.
• Design and develop New IP Brands.
• Concept and create for licensed pitches
• Work in a small collaborative team environment.
• Successfully present and communicate their concepts to the design, marketing and management.
• Communicate and work with exterior resources like model makers, sculptors, and soft goods designers.
