About The Position

As our Senior Product Designer – Digital Health & AI Experiences , you'll help define how data and design intersect to improve patient outcomes and clinician decision-making—translating complexity into clarity and empathy. You’ll join a talented, mission-driven design and product organization where your work directly impacts the lives of thousands of patients per year. In this role, you'll collaborate across disciplines with engineers, data scientists, and oncologists who share a deep belief in human-centered technology and measurable impact. This is a rare opportunity to collaborate with technical, clinical, and business partners to transform data-driven science into deeply human-centered digital tools that empower clinicians and patients alike. You will design and evolve digital experiences that bring Guardant’s mission to life through thoughtful design systems, data visualization, and empathy-led storytelling. You’ll define and execute the design vision across our AI-driven platforms, ensuring complex data insights are presented with clarity, simplicity, and humanity. Requirements

  • Typically requires a university degree and generally 12 years of related experience; 8 years and a Masters degree; 5 years and a PhD or 3 years and a PharmD.
  • Degree in Design, HCI, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in product design, preferably within data-rich, or AI-driven digital platforms.
  • Expertise in user-centered design, interaction design, and visual systems.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership of product design from research to execution.
  • Skilled in Figma, prototyping logic, and design systems.
  • Experience designing for complex workflows or clinical data-facing tools and simplifying them for real-world use.

  • Experience in digital health, biotech, or clinical care platforms.
  • Advanced degree in Design, HCI, or related disciplines.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven product experiences and visualizing data in healthcare contexts.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design strategy for Guardant’s digital experiences, with emphasis on data-driven, AI-powered clinical and patient tools.
  • Conduct and synthesize research to deeply understand user behavior, workflows, and clinical decision-making processes.
  • Translate insights into clear design opportunities and intuitive experiences across data visualization, workflow design, and responsive interfaces.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop high-fidelity prototypes, usability tests, and design reviews to validate and refine concepts.
  • Advocate for simplicity and human-centered problem-solving—ensuring designs communicate complex oncology insights with empathy and clarity.
  • Collaborate with medical and data teams to ensure visualizations meet clinical accuracy, accessibility, and comprehension expectations
  • Develop scalable design systems that align with Guardant’s design language and digital platform standards.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Clinical teams to align design intent with technical feasibility and business priorities.
  • Champion design thinking and storytelling as tools for alignment, clarity, and innovation across the organization.
  • Mentor and influence peers by contributing to design critiques, best practices, and cross-team design culture.
  • Foster a culture of design excellence—raising the bar for usability, accessibility, and consistency across all touchpoints.
