Senior Procurement Analyst

UpsideWashington, DC
9h$127,000 - $145,000Hybrid

About The Position

We created Upside to transform brick-and-mortar commerce. Our technology uses the sophistication of online retail—profit measurement, attribution, and incrementality—to provide users with more value on their everyday purchases and brick-and-mortar businesses with new, profitable customers. We’ve helped millions of users earn 2 to 3 times more cashback than any other product, and hundreds of thousands of brick-and-mortar businesses earn measurable profit. Billions of dollars in commerce run through the Upside platform every year, and that value goes directly back to our retailer partners, the consumers they serve, and important sustainability initiatives. The Role: Upside is looking for a Senior Procurement Analyst to join our Finance team. We aren’t looking for a traditional "purchasing agent." We need a strategic thinker who views procurement through the lens of a Financial Analyst—someone who can dissect a P&L, identify inefficiencies in our expense stack, and negotiate high-stakes contracts that directly impact our bottom line. As an early member of our procurement function, you will have the autonomy to build the framework for how we spend. You’ll partner with Engineering, Marketing, and GTM leaders to ensure we are investing in the right tools and vendors to fuel our 10x growth.

Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years in a high-growth SaaS or Tech environment. Background in procurement required. Backgrounds in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Strategic Sourcing, or FinOps are highly preferred.
  • Analytical Rigor: You are a "Power User" of Excel/Google Sheets. You can build complex ROI models and pivot tables to justify a $1M+ investment.
  • Negotiation Prowess: You’ve sat across the table (or Zoom) from savvy sales reps and know how to navigate "end-of-quarter" pricing tactics to get the best deal.
  • Communication: Ability to translate complex contractual terms into plain English for non-finance stakeholders.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related quantitative field.

Responsibilities

  • Be an Owner: Streamline and manage the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, from initial vendor evaluation and RFP leadership to final contract execution and renewals.
  • Make it Measurable: Conduct deep-dive spend analysis. You’ll be responsible for tracking our "burn per seat" and identifying cost-saving opportunities across our $XXM+ annual vendor spend.
  • Strategic Negotiation: Lead commercial negotiations for high-value contracts, ensuring we secure best-in-class terms, SLA protections, and pricing.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as a "Internal Consultant" for department heads. Help them define their requirements, vet vendors for security/compliance, and manage their budgets effectively.
  • Scalable Systems: Implement and optimize our procurement tech stack to automate workflows and provide radical transparency into company spending.
  • Risk Management: Partner with Legal and Security teams to ensure all vendors meet our rigorous data privacy and compliance standards.
