About The Position

The Projects Engineer II reporting to US Head of GENG, the Senior Process Engineer will play a critical role in supporting the Global Engineering function by leading the development of process specifications, engineering drawings, and process descriptions for capital projects executed within the United States. This position requires deep technical expertise in process engineering, particularly in the design and execution of biopharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. The engineer will collaborate closely with global and local stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or related field is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering within the biopharmaceutical or related industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of process design documentation including specifications, P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and equipment layouts for global engineering projects based in the US.
  • Serve as a technical lead and design manager throughout the capital project lifecycle-from concept development through detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Process Development, Quality, and Site Engineering to ensure process designs meet operational and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with external engineering partners to ensure design deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Support the onboarding and performance management of external engineering firms, ensuring alignment with project scope and execution strategy.
  • Drive continuous improvement in process design standards, documentation practices, and engineering workflows.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to the development of global engineering standards and templates for process documentation.
  • Support the Global Engineering leadership in strategic initiatives including technology implementation, operational efficiency improvements, and team capability building.
  • Responsible for oversight and of site project execution resources, both staff and contractor.
  • Provide functional expertise for incoming WuXi equipment thus ensuring timely execution in accordance with client-based project expectations and deliverables
  • Proven track record of successful management of project portfolio
  • Ability to negotiate through project challenges and deliver successful project outcomes with clients/customers, vendors and contractors.
  • Strong track record in execution of projects - on time, within budget to meet customer & end-users needs.
  • Strong level of professional experience and strong track record in the management of detailed engineering project teams and project life cycle is required.
  • Previous experience in the engineering section of a Project Management Service Provider for the sustaining site works would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of safety, quality and environmental regulatory requirements to execute projects on site.
  • A proven track record of delivering continuous improvement and value across multiple process streams and customers
  • Proficiency in engineering design tools and documentation systems (e.g., AutoCAD, Aspen, Bluebeam, etc.).
  • A defined area of expertise (e.g. Business administration, project management) would be advantageous.
