Join our team and discover why we are a top veteran employer and Certified Great Place to Work™ ASRC Federal is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under the National Airspace System Implementation Support Contract (NISC IV). This role provides systems engineering and configuration management support for critical FAA infrastructure, power systems, facilities, and National Airspace System (NAS) programs. The Systems Engineer will support FAA stakeholders by performing technical planning, requirements analysis, configuration management, system integration, verification and validation, and technical assessments across multiple NAS domains. This position plays a key role in ensuring FAA systems are properly baselined, controlled, documented, and aligned with NAS Enterprise Architecture standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong systems engineering fundamentals, experience supporting federal programs, and the ability to work collaboratively across FAA service areas, configuration control boards, and technical working groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience supporting systems engineering, configuration management, or related technical roles.
  • Experience supporting configuration management for a Federal Agency or large, complex organization.
  • Strong knowledge of configuration management principles, processes, and industry standards.
  • Experience using software tools to support configuration management activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Ability to pass FAA background investigation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or familiarity with one or more of the following is highly desired:
  • FAA organizational structure and National Airspace System (NAS) architecture.
  • FAA Configuration Management Automation (CMA).
  • NAS Enterprise Architecture tools and processes.
  • FAA power and infrastructure systems, including:
  • o NAS Critical Power Distribution System (CPDS)
  • o Remote Monitoring and Logging System (RMLS)
  • o ARTCC Critical Essential Power System (ACEPS)
  • o Facility Power Panel Schedules (FPPS)
  • Experience using ProjectWise Explorer or similar document management systems.
  • Experience supporting FAA infrastructure, facilities, or technical modernization programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide systems engineering and configuration management expertise in support of FAA NAS programs, infrastructure systems, and facilities.
  • Support configuration identification, configuration control, and Configuration Status Accounting (CSA) activities for FAA systems.
  • Assist in baselining, evaluating, and controlling changes to FAA NAS critical systems and components.
  • Ensure configuration items are aligned with NAS Enterprise Architecture (EA) requirements.
  • Conduct Physical Configuration Audits (PCA) and Functional Configuration Audits (FCA) of FAA systems and facilities.
  • Perform facility audits and deliver detailed reports documenting findings, risks, and recommendations.
  • Evaluate existing configuration management processes and practices, identify gaps, and recommend process improvements.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support to FAA Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), including Power Systems, Facilities, and Infrastructure (PSF&I).
  • Participate in NAS, Surveillance, Automation, Navigation, Communications, and Facilities CCB meetings to represent configuration management interests.
  • Track Configuration Control Decisions (CCD) action items, provide status updates, and follow items through closure.
  • Serve as an alternate point of contact for ProjectWise, managing configuration management architectural and schematic drawings.
  • Maintain configuration management reports (weekly, monthly, and ad hoc).
  • Update team meeting agendas to reflect new configuration management activities.
  • Support continuity of CM tasks during team member absences as required.
