Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • 10–15+ years of relevant experience in environmental consulting and engineering
  • Professional Engineer (Professional Engineer) license (multi-state or ability to obtain)
  • Demonstrated experience in: Industrial wastewater treatment and system design Environmental remediation (soil, groundwater, vapor) Environmental compliance and regulatory frameworks
  • Seasoned technical writer; able to produce regulatory-quality permits, compliance reports, and agency responses from technical data and engineering analyses.
  • Strong consulting and critical thinking skills are required.
  • Project management experience, including developing scopes of work, cost proposals, and schedules, and managing multiple project teams simultaneously.
  • A "Seller and Doer", working with industrial clients with a proven track record in business development.
  • A business mindset: supporting corporate goals of growing revenue, maintaining profitability, and sustaining utilization through billable hours while successfully managing a variety of projects and personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the evaluation, design, and implementation of environmental engineering solutions across: Industrial wastewater treatment systems Soil, groundwater, and vapor remediation systems Stormwater and water quality management
  • Design and oversee bench-scale and pilot studies, including data evaluation, mass balance, and treatment technology selection.
  • Develop and review key technical deliverables, including: Engineering reports, feasibility studies, and remedial action plans Design documents (plans, specifications, PFDs, P&IDs) Work plans, SOPs, and O&M manuals
  • Provide technical oversight for data analysis, modeling, and system performance evaluation
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations (e.g., CWA, RCRA, CERCLA, TSCA)
  • Manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects from concept through design, construction, and operation
  • Oversee budgets, schedules, resource allocation, and financial performance
  • Direct design-build and construction-phase engineering services
  • Coordinate with clients, regulators, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Lead environmental assessments, site investigations, and compliance activities
  • Travel to client sites to inspect systems, evaluate performance, and provide hands-on troubleshooting and optimization support
  • Serve as a technical leader and mentor to engineering and scientific staff across multiple offices
  • Build and develop high-performing teams
  • Provide guidance on complex technical challenges and promote best practices
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across service lines
  • Act as a seller-doer, developing and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Lead proposal development, including scope, technical approach, and cost estimates
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities while expanding existing accounts
  • Represent EnSafe at industry events, conferences, and client meetings
  • Support regional growth and strategic initiatives
