About The Position

This role is for a Senior Pre-Sales Engineer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), a global edge-to-cloud company. The engineer will manage pre-sales technical/functional support for prospective clients, ensuring customer satisfaction. The role requires presenting and articulating the capabilities and values of HPE Network Solutions against competitors, with a strong background in networking infrastructure technologies. The Pre-Sales Engineer will collaborate with Territory Managers to qualify opportunities, convert leads, and drive sales to closure. This senior-level position demands excellent sales support, consultative skills, and an expert understanding of advanced and emerging networking technologies, particularly in campus and distributed branch networks. The incumbent will consult with Territory Managers to create comprehensive pitches, proactively manage the opportunity pipeline, and lead in a team environment to develop innovative, tailored solutions. The role requires gathering client data to effectively customize solutions and understanding various delivery methods. Combining technical expertise with business acumen, this role provides vital information on how HPE Networking solutions deliver business value. Candidates must reside in the New England area and be willing to travel within the region regularly. The role is designated as "Remote/Teleworker", primarily working from home.

Requirements

  • Career level oral & written communication, organizational, presentation, prioritization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be customer focused and have the ability to design and manage solutions to complex technical issues.
  • Ability to interface with senior levels of internal / external organizations is required.
  • Proven track record of successful sales support activity.
  • Career level experience with networking infrastructure technologies in all arenas.
  • Excellent sales support and consultative skills.
  • Expert understanding of advanced and emerging technologies with an emphasis on campus and distributed branch networks.
  • Ability to lead in a team environment and to collaborate on the development of innovative, tailored solutions.
  • Ability to gather client data required to effectively tailor a solution.
  • Understanding of solution selling and various ways a solution may be delivered, with the ability to anticipate what will work best for a given client.
  • Technical expertise combined with business acumen.
  • Reside in the New England area.
  • Willingness to travel within the region on a regular basis.

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ years of infrastructure engineering and some experience with successful pre-sales support.

Responsibilities

  • Manage account and partner responsibilities for selected accounts in assigned territory.
  • Provide the optimum combination of hardware, software, and services to meet complex customer needs.
  • Play a role in the development of the bid, proposal, and presentation of the solution to the prospect.
  • Provide specific solutions/technology/product/technical and sales support for accounts in assigned territory.
  • Deliver technical presentations to customers, partners, and potential prospects.
  • Manage channel partners to help drive business and deliver demand generation events.
  • Develop account relationships over time to continue to deliver advice to the customer and identify additional opportunities; maintain and manage a sales pipeline and forecasts against regional goals.
  • Possess competitive knowledge including solution, technology, and product offerings.
  • Provide consultative support to key internal/external stakeholders in assigned territory.
  • Use in-depth product knowledge to provide technical expertise to sales staff and the customer through sales presentations and product demonstrations.
  • Assists the sales staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs.
  • Prepare detailed product specifications for the development and implementation of customer products/applications/solutions.
  • Create detailed design and implementation specifications for complex products/applications/solutions.
  • Build a proof of concept based on customer requirements to demonstrate feasibility of the application, often requiring rapid prototyping and/or product demo for client.
  • Provide consultation to prospective users and/or product capability assessment and validation.
